AuthorHow to make a good avatar?
So... I was messing up with a program to edit photos and make a cool avatar.
I've made lights, rain, fog, eyes glomming, flamming effects and stuff like that.

But since this game only allows a file size with only 50kb, pretty much, I had to settle animations duration to 1 sec and fps to 2, which basically killed everything...

I can't see any rain, eyes glomming, flames effect? kidding me?
Basically, with this limitation, there's almost nothing worthful to do. How do you guys manage, do make anything good with such low file size?

Guess, I'll look for a small avatar, so I can decrease the size to 100x100, and try my luck with animation duration to 2 seconds... I doubt I can manage to put fps to 3... Lame is lame.

This is how it supposed to look.

And this... Is how it really looks, cause of size limitations...

I know awful terrible.

I'll try something else later... But with 50kb size, there's almost nothing that worth to do.
It's a nice avatar ;)

I'm not too sure, it's been a few years since I made any, but I think you shouldn't change FPS but rather reduce colours..that should help. And indeed, with small size of animation, rain becomes invisible, so give it a stronger shade :)
You might need to reduce the colour map on the image. Google optimize animated GIF and you may be able to use an online optimizer to improve the image size without having to lose much quality. Of course it may not be as good as going through and optimizing the images manually - But it is an option. I am no image expert - So I can't advise you too much on how to make the actual avatar.
Thanks guys for the advices, I'll take a look.
I never made this before, so far seems a pretty fun hobby, though as anything else, need to learn all the tricks first. :)
Use a graphics program like Adobe Fireworks, most of the good applications let you set max file size when exporting as an animated .gif file. Most of them offer a free trial option.
So, I've edited my avatar.

I've settle animation duration to 3 seconds.
I also speeded up lights and zombie gloming eyes, now I can see both.
I kind liked how the flaming is now.
I've increased the size of rain, now it's looks like a nightmare's storm, probably gonna decrease a little bit.
Fog and a dust which supposed to emulate a souls leeching or something like that, both were removed.

Fps (image quality/smoothly) was settle to 2, I would like to raise to 4 or 5, but seems to be impossible.

In order to do this, I've to decrease file original size, I though it won't be a good idea at first, but the diffence between 150x150 and something smaller than that, is very small, and definitely worth to mess with.

I'm gonna just make the final adjustments for this one, then I'll look to something else to play with.
I also gonna check every program listed here, so if you guys know any good program to try out, please share. :)
I havent made avatars either for sometime now, but I think Adobe Flash can also be used... Thought i agree, the file size is a pain and i always end up with messy stuff of what it should be
It's extremely small for any good quality gifted animation, the final result looks just terrible, in comparison.
Do not get me wrong, 50kb is way to much for any png picture or anything stactic at all, but for gifted? Bad joke, really bad joke.

At least raise for 200kb, things will become much better.

So, I've found two programs to compress, which otherwise it would be impossible to settle at > 50kb at all.

I'm wondering if anybody could help me with following doubts.

- Any program which adds fire effects, like this.

- Any program that places gifted animations on a specific spot, for example I was wanting the light to hit the top of the tower, from my previous avatar. I've manually settle an area of effect, but it shots lights randomly inside the area, even a little outside of it, getting something exactly where I want, is near of impossible.

- Something that emulate a kind of drainning effect. I was thinking about add a kind of aura and going to necromancer's hand with fire, or perhaps to his mouth.

Not exactly this one, actually this picture is pretty bad, but I dind't found a better one.
The concept is simple, it must come from a target or multiple targets, and goes to a specific location, like the fire on his hand, or his mouth.

- Something that add movements to the picture. Like moving the neck, arms, walking to a position... Movements.

- A website which I can upload my images, but nobody could copy & paste.

none in
A website which I can upload my images, but nobody could copy & paste.
None in my opinion. I believe any site can restrict copy pasting from their webpages but we can still copy those images by other techniques.

Ignore post 10, it is incomplete
If you mean by hitting pring screen button, and going to a software like paint, fotoshop or alike, well... You cannot copy animated effects, with a single static picture, the only way is copying the file for itself. Unless there's another way that I'm not aware of.

Unless the idea is take a full load of pictures and personally edit it, with an software to combine those, and thus create animations, but that would be even harder than make the picture from scratch I believe.
Guess not preview images then. :)
I don't think anyone would do such thing, but to be on the safer side, add your name first on the 1st preview that you want to show, and remove it at last if you want:)
