New Event <Settlement Defense>

AuthorNew Event <Settlement Defense>
So basicaly, you'll enjoy something bad, only because you want to have a rebel opinion? Besides, I am merely questioning by the way, on the day that a question became the same as whining, then the world will be doomed.

What exactly is fresh in here?
A couple useless farmers?
A couple of diagnonal objects that reskin the existing walls from the HoMM universe and series, that also has been used in several events in the past and is currently a official battle attempt in the WG?
A couple of towers, which again... Same as above.

Perhaps then it's the units new skin and stats that makes it "fresh" perhaps? But then, in order to fulfil the enjoyment, won't this be necessary to be balanced in a way, that rewards strategical players instead of arbitrary throwing battles that were impossible to be won? The same logic applies that battles that were too easy to be lost.
So instead of playing with a digital population number as a source of difficult, won't actually be better, if the difficult were always winnable and challeging, but never impossible to obtained?
So basicaly, you'll enjoy something bad, only because you want to have a rebel opinion?

Which check, how are you defining a rebel opinion? Is it through an unbiased sample of the LWM population, or the biased sample of the people on the forums? Remember, statistically people are more likely to complain than provide good feedback.

Besides, I am merely questioning by the way, on the day that a question became the same as whining,

By calling the peasants useless, you are, effectively (perhaps subconsciously) whining.

What exactly is fresh in here?

For me? It's fresh in a few ways
- It's the first event in which I am able to use charmer elf (with PoS)
- I like the set up of the battle, troops cannot easily reach each other in one turn, causing a massacre
- The balance between trying to keep your distance from the enemy and protecting the farmers
- The new (to me at least) troops and their stats / abilities

I also like the hidden competition factor, I am, in essence up against the rest of the community and seeing who scores what is always something fun.

And reason why whining amuses me is simple - It reminds me of my little brother, he always whines when something doesn't quite go his way, instead of being appreciative of what did go well, though he is only 9 years old..
I do enjoy the freshness of this event though, the newness and the challenge that comes along with it, though I do suck, I still enjoy the battles.

sorry but there is nothing new about it. its a mix of different battle conditions we have already had previously. The huts may seem new but in reality they are just like obstacles in your settlement area. Of course they just expanded the map area to compensate for that.

for Angel of Death:
more or less pve events are always disappointing in my opinion. A new event can be played a bunch of times but then it gets boring. 12 battles per day is not something i would go for so i can agree with you however many players enjoy it so why not? I see that you are trying to understand from the players themselves but the way you put it is slightly condesending, if i am not mistaken.
Watched some battles and seems we got ourselves a rubbish event...again
think i'll pass
Remember, statistically people are more likely to complain than provide good feedback.

Well, I would like to hear how anybody who played this event feels about it, an honest opinion nonetheless. Be a positive feedback or a bad one, following with the reasons of why that conclusion.
This feedback could even be given towards the administration and pehaps even adjusted with the new events? Unlikely but not impossible though, still this is how things news to be done in order to be actually improved.

Agreed. I whined about the useless farmers, about the not new towers and houses, because these are in fact, nothing new. However my original question as what it was, a question.

Fair points. Although the last reason is 'a little' hindered about the scaling difficult system adopted.

This game loses players every year, denying that there is something wrong doesn't actually makes it right. Attempting to insult someone who does have a oposite opinion/argument is actually what makes you look like a 9 years old.

however many players enjoy it so why not?

I am happy that the PvE players does receive content to play, however it seems that the majority of the content seems to be PvE focused, while the PvP players, are left over. Just my opinion though.
Still, the question about the difficult scalling is something that I am really intrigued if people does appreaciate and why, because I couldn't hate more and I don't see any reason to this kind of scaling exist, except from forcing players to spend more on arts.

It comes from the same place that implemented something like dynamic balancing. We already know how many years they have spent without improving that system. I could go on and keep talking against it but I am not even sure if many find fault to that BS concept.
Have you already seen mobile balista ?
I would like to see again old PvE events .

Like demon portal

or unholy venomancers

I've read here that the AI focus on towers, but for me as a dwarf the enemy leaves the towers last....
To everyone who says that towers are useless.

Without towers it would be impossible to win against 131 ogres having shadow barb

AI definitely focus on my towers towards the end
What is better, another tower or upgrading the previous one?
for velniukstis:
I saw that battle and from your moves it is easy to tell you knew you would win after one point.
A truly helpless lone stack of ogre, i have experienced that fate far too many times against the likes of faster units that you commanded.

again on due to towers standing till the end
I would like to see again old PvE events .

Good times indeed. One thing in common between those events, it's a PvE that involves team play (always more fun) and had a more or less fixed difficult for each CL, instead of this 'dynamic balancing.'
Does any one knows any hint or tips how to keep higher score on this event. Cause if you loose the battle you loose almost 2x population than you earn on victory. For example if you have 1500 population and loose you get 150 damage, if you win its only 90 and thats only if you have all huts alive. My current score is Population: 1,416, Victories / Combats: 28 / 36. But after first day it was much higher. So if you progress with 2 victories 1 loss you are decreasing your population and if some farmers dies during battle it gets even worse. Even if you barely win battle with all dead farmers you still loose about 70 population. I wonder if difficulty depends on population or its just random? And any strategies how to keep better population?
for Angel of Death:
I remember venomancer and demon events as boring... Nothing really exciting compared to other battles either.
Its like pre-determined While the last village def I won but they killed all the villagers when they start loosing & I lost more villager then I got ;p
What does endurance mean? For towers..
Just now started the event :P
for Awesome 13:
Endurance increases HP of tower
