nice - thanks SwiftGirl :) | Topic moved from "General game forum" to "Queries and help". | Topic moved from "Queries and help" to "Off-game forum". | + | Topic moved from "Off-game forum" to "General game forum". | 2.6 It is essential that the player consult the forum before entering a tournament, consulting the information of waves of creatures of the corresponding level.
Usually, or by default, the forum posters would post the waves by the sequence of number, and the sides of creatures follows a Left-Top-Right-Bottom format. If otherwise, check if there is a statement about information format.
It is very likely that you will get information of the bonus spheres too.
Upon getting such information, strategically, for all factions you have to check:
Layout of wave 1
Bonus spheres (especially mana spheres)
For (classic) elves, an extra check should be performed on:
List of creatures in waves
The layout of wave 1 will mainly decide in what way you will arrange your troops in the “tactics” phase. Notice that Tactics talent doesn’t work. You may split, and align troops according to the most favorable manner in which you can launch the easiest first-turn assault to the creatures in the beginning.
The bonus spheres will mainly help you devise which creatures (and when) will be taking these spheres. For elves, knights and necromancers, this will further influence when you will start to perform phantom force spells, which will maintain the bonus that has applied to the cloned troop. The mana sphere, specifically, will retrospectively influence how you will distribute your four primary skills, that is, each mana sphere will spare 2.5 (rounded down) knowledge to be put elsewhere.
Elves are highly recommended to take a complete check through the list of creatures, and find the best creature for each faction you will choose as “favored enemies”. Usually, the criteria to judge upon these creatures is to judge by their total HP in the list. But casters, shooters, creatures with higher speed/initiative and/or very tough mutant monsters can also rise as a significantly weighted factor. This being strategic, just do not worry too much about choosing a wrong enemy because there is chance between battles to adjust your favored enemy settings.
Experienced ST participants may also predict when they’ll die upon just browsing the wave information. | Amazing how much thought goes into ST | I'm pretty excited about the next one, actually. I did ok-ish on my very first, but I really had no idea what was going on. | Sorry everyone:(
