How is possible to get paid from Empire every month ?
being a forum mod is one way
Translators are also paid I believe. As well as the radio show hosts. I think some HWM daily people are paid too.
How it is possible to apply for something like this ?

Not true :P The question of payment didn't even come up. I do the translations because I care for our community. Being a translator is completely voluntary so far.
Actually translating and checking a translation are different things right?

A thread is opened in the general game forum during recruitment periods. Instructions for applying are written there.
5#, 7# and 8#

Actually, when all the Russian-English whole thing happened (Which I always take pride of sayin I begin) xD...
... A LOT of people began to wonder why specific Translators got paid, if we didnt often get the Transltions, or we got them very late.

Some of them got Fired IIRC due to that, and new ones came.

Regarding 11#
Actually, I havent seen one of those in... Years? No Recruitment at all.

There arent many Forum Mods, now that I think of it.
Many many left the game, or are inactive.

But you haven't been super active all of those years. :) There was recruitment maybe a year and half ago, that's when I got the role.

There are plenty of mods who are still active

Between myself and Dragon Eater, we cover enough, and Corey comes in every now and then like a wrecking ball ;)

Though of course I've seen activity from the vast majority of all the names in that clan in the last few months.

I think most recruiting for moderators happens by invitation. You are observed as an active and good contributor to the community, you get invited. Conversely, you become inactive for long, you get evicted.

Forums are not as active as they once used to be, so I believe there's little need for more moderators at this time, hence the lack of open recruitment periods in recent times.
Exactly.
Completly agree with the above Post, Wp.
Thanks guys , very nice topic :)
It amazes me that the chat moderators are still receiving pay when I havent seen a soul there in years

When Arctic was around, we used to have to report the activity of the Moderators to him (including Chat when I was the head Chat moderator) and he would pay out accordingly. Since he has left, whoever pays the salary logs on once every three months and dumps it on all mods at the same rate - Much easier for them. It just happens that the Chat Moderators receive that same allocation.

At the end of the day, the salary is paid in the most convenient manner to the person making the payment.

All moderation branches have their own private forum and we do encourage forum mods and sages to leave a note when we are taking vacations or will be inactive for a while. This allows us to track coverage and determine if we need more.

The recruitment threads were useful when recruiting a larger number of moderators at a time. We ran one before the merge back in 2013 for Chat mods, to bolster that for the impending merge - Turns out it wasn't particularly needed since Chat never picked up. We also ran one for sages around about 2014.

I agree with DarkSooth - The forums aren't as active as they were. It has always been a balance between the level of activity in the forums and the amount of moderation. It's apparent that the lower the level of activity, the more annoyed people get at a higher level of moderation ;) so we try to be mindful of that.

I remember the time. We had a new batch of moderators, and in their effort to seem useful, they were banning people left and right. It was the most draconian forum I had ever seen anywhere. I'm sure we lost quite a few players because of that.

I myself was blocked because I complained about Lexa in a PRIVATE message with another player. I had no idea they monitored private messages. I knew a Russian company owns this game, but we were on a US site!

The current batch of moderators seem more mellow. For everyone's sake I hope they stay that way.
sages

What are sages? I always heard/read this term at many places but never understood the difference between a sage and a mod.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
