AuthorHow do you define a .com clan?
how do people define a .com clan?

I think it's a clan which encourages player irrespective of their region or language as it expects people from many regions across the timezons.
This is a very interesting thread and I am happy it exists. My personal opinion is that it is a bait and is meant for the GGF because it is a discussion and not a query. However, my view is biased and Meshy thinks it is a question. He knows there is no correct definition and wants to ask the community about their opinions, their thoughts, etc.. Just because I think it is a bait does not mean others think it is. And this is the beauty of freedom of expression of speech within reasonable bounds.

The result is that a nice discussion has resulted with players expressing their views freely. This is exactly what happens when moderators give freedom to players to lead the discussion and help in the discussion rather than trying to determine whether something is off-topic, is subjective, not right, etc..

Thank you for letting the discussion flow here without threat of bans and excessive moderation. I really feel the Syrian incident has taught us all something and the forum is a better place now because of it.
I believe it all comes down to the vast majority of players in the clan as well as the general communication between the clan and the players.

For example, my clan is originally a .com clan since i intended to let only English players in and that the clan mail would specifically be only in English. But looking at the dwindling interest by English players i thought of letting anyone join the clan. And now i have a mixed population.

So if you join a clan like ak which has majority of its players to be Russian and the clan mail are all in Russian. Then it's supposing that its a .ru clan. Not based off the server it was constructed in.
As a few others have pointed out, I think that the default language used is the simplest indicator because it represents a combination of both the leadership and members.

If the leaders are Russian, they will communicate in Russian. However if they had primarily English-speaking members then they might start to communicate in English instead. Alternatively, if a clan with English speaking leaders had mostly Russian members, they might start to send out messages in Russian instead. the default language is based off the combined factors of both the leadership and membership.

This seems like a simple and fairly reliable way of differentiating .com from .ru clans.
I think a clan can identify any way it wants.
EFL can openly say we're a .com clan.
I'd think AD thinks the same thing
Would AK say that they're a .com clan? Differentiation starts right there.
I play LWM, ther's no such thing as com or ru clan in my head.

AK falls in the middle having a mixture of both english and russian populations. So it can be third category of mixed. It doesn't really have to be binary.

+++ if everyone has this same kind of figure of mind it can be so much better , but people try to split in communities

This isn't an electorial game we play to make new friends , find new people , and have a break from our real life
come on, all of you are from .com, otherwise you wont talk here.. plz respect every clan and person, we are in the same boat :)

I am happy this was accepted. It shows a very positive change in moderation. This can be a genuine question or clarification that a player seeks. Censoring this would be objectionable. Accepting it allowed you to raise the point that this is a rhetorical question

Not in the slightest. I was curious what peoples responses to this question would be. I was not aiming for a discussion, simply to hear answers.

And I have my answers, so QATC.
