There are 2 main issues with the donation announcement:
1. The Xsolla bug
2. The differences between:
"base" amount of diamonds (the diamonds required for the reward),
"total" amount of diamonds (the diamonds players get after bonus(es)), and
"total" amount of diamonds (the sum of all base diamonds the players have donated throughout the promotion)
Xsolla Bug
I found out about the bug with the help of mellor and his contacts, and it roughly means we are getting the rewards 20% cheaper.
E.g. a reward at 5,000 RUB equating to 125 base diamonds would be awarded at ceil(125/1.2) = 105 base diamonds when donating through the Xsolla system.
I don't know the full details and there are still some cases I couldn't account for yet (e.g. what happens if we donate 104 through Xsolla, and then 1 through non-Xsolla, vice-versa, or some other combination of the two).
This is affecting both the English and Russian interfaces, so it is not a translation issue.
But while the Russian interface has a payment system besides Xsolla without this bug, it is essentially unavoidable on the English interface.
Base vs Total vs Total Diamonds
The intended reward threshold (as in the Russian non-Xsolla system and its donation announcements) is using the amount of RUB donated (equivalent to base diamonds with 40 RUB/diamond ratio).
In the current offer (https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=2833267), the numbers all correspond to the base diamonds (RUB / 40) correctly.
But the exact mechanics are still not clear since there are two relevant interpretations of the word "total":
1. We can take the 50 "total" diamonds as in it doesn't matter how many times we donated, as long as they all add up to at least 50 regardless of the bonus (which is fine and correct).
2. Or we can take it to mean that whatever the amount we donated + its bonuses must add up to at least 50 (incorrect when the figures are using base diamonds).
It should be made clear that the rewards work as in this first sense, but not the second.
The two interpretations are not mutually exclusive and there may be some who are accustomed to taking the figures in the English interface as total in both the first and second senses, so I would explicitly mention that the figures are the total amount donated excluding the bonuses to rule out the 2nd interpretation or something to that effect.
Whether or not we should also mention the bug in the announcement (both English and Russian) is another question altogether.
While I don't think we should be adjusting descriptions to accommodate bugs and unintended mechanics, this bug is involving players' money and may need to be addressed separately.
Especially since this can be construed as fraudulent advertisements for an otherwise well-intended gesture from the players helping the game they love.
But this would also require the admin's involvement to understand the exact mechanics of the rewarding system. |

It is not being unappreciative. But after constant half efforts, most of us don’t care anymore.
Just see I remember few months ago a few Russian players post here asking for English improvement, just like that with no results. All talk no action.
So plz understand my frustration. Too many promises made, none kept. |

How would we know to send message to Beliar? When were we informed to send message to Beliar.
Obviously u don't know anything about english forums and u want to help, then learn about english forums before asking ignorant questions like that, who even is Beliar?
So i answer ur question, no i didn't NOT because I didn't want to, but because I didn't know I should have. The fault is NOT on u like i said, but after repetitive players from RU site coming here, offering help and giving suggestions, and then no action taken, can u blame me, most of us just don't care anymore. For event translations I just log into ru site and read the news there.
U want to help us do better, then help to do better, not just say u want to help and then no follow up. Then we will be appreciative. |

I think most of us who listen and not only talk knows who Beliar is and want to thank him too for his help every time I need it him. |

What you clearly dont understand is that us editors, and translators are at the mercy of the admins who lets be honest dont really care as we are maybe 5% of the player base?
Mag does all he can to quickly translate news as soon as he is given chance. Mellor has been extremely active recently in improving the quality of edits, the process of editing, and the communication between editors, translators and story writers. Vicky is coming and doing edits even though on a break from the game.
None of these are motivated by gold, only a will to make the game better for .com players. As ive said there is little appreciation from the admins, so if players like you continue to slate these hardworking select few, then whats the point? If no one is going to be thankful we may as well not bother?
Be careful what you wish for as your way of demanding better announcements may end up with no translations at all... |
I for one am really appreciative of the translation team
Although I dont read the storyline a lot of the times, it still is glaringly obvious by the sheer volume of text that it wouldnt be something to be scoffed at.
And that too for volunteers doing it sheerly for the love of the game and the community, what seriously is that little bit of token gold to any of them in game terms anyways xD
If someone really, really feels a huge improvement is possible then Id say go ahead and join the team , one more active member would only make it better :)
Equality is one concept but we have to understand that resource allocation occurs proportionally, not equally in between servers. If the com server forms 5-10% of the player base, then its simply bad brains to expect 50% allocation of resources from the admins in terms of “equality”, a 5-10% allocation is realistic and Id say justified in a sense. It is the players who are helping each other out and making this server a better place and they deserve nothing but appreciation.
Basically, why whine when you can just contribute to solve the issues you are whining for xD |
