trick for day 3 is to get 1 stack of orcs, upgrade to orcs shamans, 55% confuse is waaaay too good to pass up
tier 3 I am thinking between swordman or golem

i dont know if there is ever a situation where a bg stack of golems beats a bg stack of minos. more innitiative, speed health 3 morale which can win you lost games etc and you dont have to upgrade minos for them to be useful, and modern golem upgrade is insanely expensive
oh since it's expensive then changed my mind
What goes for day 4 guys
brawlers imo. can collect them in bigger numbers
I was between them or Magi
I went for Griffin
out of interest ... how many griff did you end up with? I went brawlers and got 840 of them with 210k silver upgrade cost which is going to be interesting along with upgrades to other units

but they helped me a lot against shooters
300 grifs and 30 shamans here.

Grifs are fast, love it.

vs poison/vamp
Vamp is not relevant
if you choose to fight poison/vamp without knowing how to bait them in and kill them before they hit anything important then you probably deaerve to lose to those. i have faced several poison and necro armies in the event and they were never a problem, even with all living units.
Rocs were a beauty today
agreed, the straight utility of not needing bless, high speed, flyer transporter is just too good to pass up. gives you a lot of room to outplay ai army imo if you use them appropriately
late starter..if ill have time...not much time to check ru forums..what are decent strategies for first days? defence build and which units? not going for top :) maybe in top 2000 is ok :)
day 1 doesnt matter, skeletons are good base unit, i went 500 skels 196 imps 288 spearmen 96 faires. upgraded imps and fairies to help with day 2
day2 i got unlucky with rolls so i had to split between zombies and forest keepers, ended with 400+ of each and upgraded zombies to infecteds
day 3: got unlucky again and was forced to go invaders, make big stack of tier 3 units, preferably minos or wolfhounds imo. grab 1 stack of orcs for orc shamans for 55% confusion. will help out tremendously later on and is a perma unit in my army at the end of day 5.
day 4: preferably go ogres, grifs or brawlers, 1 big stack
day 5: go something fast: genies/rocs imo, i went rocs for the extra speed and transport, 1 big stack and i had to go clerics for bless for brawlers/invaders as they have perma curse without bless spell.

so my current army is 400 infecteds, 400 fk, 56 orc shamans, 1000 invaders, 1240 brawlers, 350 rocs and 32 clerics
score is 753000, solidly in top 10 right now

good strategy is to use units like dryads, spawns forest keeprs to bait enemy stacks in so you can pile on your dps stacks and kill them 1 at a time while you confuse their shooters with shamans. as for attack/defense early on defense is good, last two days i have only gone 53 agttack 39 defence. i abuse the 20% melle reduction from dono gear and 32% range reduction fromshield and cloak along with confusion to survive shooters
another good set of tips:
i always avoid temptresses, poisoners, lizard cavalry, gremlin wreckers, wardens, and lava drags/magma drags as they are just insta lose
@slayer, i think you have it spot on for the most part and wish i had this advice on day when starting out. Should help Markec out tremendously....thank you

Only additional comments i would make is Day 1 - scorpions are also good bait with delay built in if they survive to retaliate and Day 4- i went the genie route which does give you some debuff which can help, but i get the point on rocs greater speed and ini.

is the general plan for day 6 to start earning gold to upgrade troops or to just build additional Tier 6 units to cause more damage and not upgrade any units at all? For my troops to upgrade all i would need to stop gathering troops now and only focus on silver for remaining battles...thoughts?
