AuthorEarth magic shield, how does this work?
How does "Earth magic shield" work?

Suppose if hero A have Earth magic shield 10%.
His unit get attacked by other. The attack should inflict 100 damage, will the attack reduce 10% to 90?

OR

Earth magic shield only works if the attacker have "Extra damage with earth magic"?

I think, this game should provide more information about elements. Can anyone help?
the first one is what happens
like wih a cape of wind 25% less damage a magic arrow of 64 does only 48 damage
same with all other damage reductions
Earth Magic Shield 10% gives 10% damage reduction against Earth Elemental Damage.

Earth Elemental Damage can be extra damage from enchanted weapon; for example, a hero wields a 5% Earth Enchanted weapon. His troops therefore deals 5% extra damage, Earth type. Earth Magic Shield 10% gives 10% damage reduction against these EXTRA damage.

Also, Earth Magic Shield gives damage reduction against the Earthen Spikes spell.
Earth magic shield only works if the attacker have "Extra damage with earth magic"

And a bit of useful info:

Modificators on magic resist do not take away from efficiency of weapon enchantings - the result is achieved by multiplying.

Example: attacker has a mod +15% fire dmg, defender has +10% of fire resist. The result is +15%*(0.9)=+13.5% additional fire dmg.

Barbs' MR is considered when counting additional dmg with magic. So is other MR - example: stack deals 100 dmg, with 4% fire dmg they deal 104 dmg, but to golems (50%MR) they deal 102 dmg.

And as Kotrin said, it also gives damage resistance to spells of appropriate nature. Forgot about those :P
Earth Magic Shield 10% gives 10% damage reduction against Earth Elemental Damage.

Is it mean that "Extra Magic Shield" only give damage reduction against Earth Elemental Damage" not any damage?

Let's make clear by example:

1. 10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with no enchantment at all, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?

2. 10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with "Extra damage with EARTH magic, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?

3. 10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with "Extra damage with FIRE magic, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?
Pay attention at this one, the type of magic is different.

really, so extra damage multipliers are way more powerfull then resistants.
cause de resistance is only a percentage of the total damage and does not work like attack and defence (deduct and then calculate damage)

How about spells
if i have fire ball and +15% more spell power on fire spells
the oponent has 10% fire resistance.
would the damage be
1. 100% + 15 % * 90% so total = 103.5% so only 3.5% gain
So elemental resistance is strong against spells but much weaker against added damage on weapons.

?? your thoughts
specialone
1. damage is 100
2 and 3 depends on how much extra damage they have 1%? 10%?
10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with no enchantment at all, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?

100

10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with "Extra damage with EARTH magic, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?

100 + 100*X%*(1-0.1) where X = Extra damage with EARTH magic%

3. 10 orcs with "EARTH Magic Shield 10%" is attacked by 20 Guardians with "Extra damage with FIRE magic, should inflict 100 damage. How much will the damage?

100 + 100*Y% where Y= Extra damage with FIRE magic
for kiwi:
Lets say 10% of extra damage.

so for
2. the damage will be multiplied by 9%.
3. the damage will be multiplied by 10%.

Is it right?
Well I think it's not fair.

Who want to use magic shield enchantment if the calculation is like that?
really, so extra damage multipliers are way more powerfull then resistants.

At the moment? Yes.

if i have fire ball and +15% more spell power on fire spells
the oponent has 10% fire resistance.
would the damage be
1. 100% + 15 % * 90% so total = 103.5% so only 3.5% gain

That's right.

I believe encantment bounus system might change in the future, but we'll need more enchanters first (and not weaponmasters :P) ;)
Can someone make a list on which spell, the magic shield will be taken into account?
Shebali, maybe? :)

For example:

1. Earth magic shield
-
-

2. Air magic shield
-
-

3. Water magic shield
-
-

4. Fire magic shield
- Fireball
for SpecialOne:
How about you just check the nature of spell damage here? :)

Oh, thank you, Shebali. :)

Another question:
How about "Ignore target's defense" and "Decrease attack of charging stack"?
How do they work?

Hope you don't mind I am asking too much. :)
i presume they work on the total attack and defense of a unitso including the extras, but i might be wrong?
Maybe, ignore target defense reduce defense by X%. for example you have 10% ignore, the enemy's def is 10, so they will be reduced to 9. decrease attack of charging stack maybe have the same meaning. what i dont understand is "charging"
what does it mean? "attacking" or move some tiles before attacking like "liz charge"?
"Ignore target's defense" allows to ignore a certain % of tafget's defence (for a 10% enchantment defence of opponent would be counted as 90% of his actual defence) Same principle with "ignore atack"

Now, when you have 2 players, one of whom has Ignore def. enchantment, and the other - Ignore att. I'm not sure :(
I'll try to find more info, or perhaps someone else here might know the exact formula. But at a guess - it's counted the same way as 'extra element dmg/resist element dmg'
Hope this helps :/
charging" = attacking Works with every unit, not just liz :)
Thank you, Shebali.
You are very helpful. :)
