Do you get more experience fighting a Challenging Hunt rather than a Piece of Cake one?
Also, how come the 'cash' award for higher danger level hunts is less than for Piece of Cake ones? Or are Experience & Cash Awards random? |

Yes, I believe so.

Seems random to me... |
It's not random. Experience and cash increases for more difficult hunts when you compare the same creature.
What you are talking about it comparing a Challenging Titan hunt vs a Piece of Cake Farmer hunt. Why it might look like the Farmer hunt gives more xp and gold? That's because the difficulty level is determined by your level and faction. Certain factions can do different hunts easier than other factions. |
+1 to what Pantheon said
But further, "big" monsters, hardly give any skill/xp...like Sphnx Guardians, titans, etc. |

Not true, at least not in the same way as experience. Each creature gives a certain amount of XP, that much we know.
But the cash is not that easy. For example, a friend of mine fought 15 Bandits with his lowlvl char:

A fight from a lvl 6 against 255 Bandits:

15 Bandits = 194 gold, 255 Bandits = 178 gold.
Same lowbie against 20 Bandits, 67 gold:

So, what we can conclude is that either the gold has a very high range of possible outcomes or is indeed random within certain bounds. Rules that apply to those bounds remain uncovered. |
There is definitely a range in gold rewards and you can see that from the various double tracking instances of same creatures ( several high level players got some in photo albums ). |
