Author | Rounded up or down? |
Hi all,
I'm thinking of getting the Basic maigc talent and was doing some maths with the bless for my xbows. So given these stats
Xbows damage range: 2-8
No talent = 50%
Basic Talent = 65%
Bless formula: min+T*(max-min)
No Talent: 2 + (50% x 6) = 5
Basic Talent: 2 + (65% x 6) = 5.9
So is the 5.9 rounded up to 6? or to 5 (same as with no talent), which makes getting the Basic Holy talent kidda redundant.
Thanks in advance. |
I believe anything .4 is rounded down and anything .5+ gets rounded up :D |
In my experience things the are beneficial round down and things that hurt round up..but I'm probably completely wrong...
Why don't you set those talents for an easy hunt, bless and see the outcome? |
As far as I know only the final damage is rounded, so 5.9 is better than 5. |
"I believe anything .4 is rounded down and anything .5+ gets rounded up :D"
17.55 rounds down:

5% of 50 increase for FK hunt rounds up to 3:

So it is kinda random, lol |

That's correct in the Mathematical world, but does Lordswm apply that logic? :p

I would have, but that would only bring my xbow's damage range to 5-5.9-8. I don't think one could tell if the xbows was dealing which of the 5-9 range damage, since 5.9 is almost identical to 6.
So it could be the hit was an actual 6 damage hit, regardless of whether I was using the talent or not, or it was a 5 damage hit, but went up to 5.9/6 as a result of me using the Holy basic talent.
Hmm.. did u get that across right? haha.. :D |

Got a better worded way of what I wanna say:
Since the range with Basic holy talent is now 5-8, it could be
1) The actual damage range I made with a blessed xbows is 5, but coz of the Basic holy magic, I dealt 5.9 (or 6 if rounded up) damage, and I actually gain some extra (+0.9 - +1) damage from using the talent.
2) The actual damage range I made with a blessed xbows is 5, BUT if the 5.9 is rounded down to 5, I still get only +5 damage and hence using Basic Holy talent is redundant.
Thus, I can't really tell if it makes a difference unless I know specifically if my xbows was dealing 5 or 6 damage for that particular attack.
Hmm.. seems clearer now. haha.. |
I was under the impression that the game actually rounds everything to the 10th place (.1), and that any rounding to a whole number you see is just a display issue (e.g. you might see 5 but it's actualy 5.3). |

ctrl + click, it'll show iether 5-8 or 6-8 on your crossbows |
actually your x-bows deal normal damage and then 5.9 is added to it so..
if you have 10 x-bows deal 25 damage on that turn then with bless they deal 59 damage extra but it is halved if beyond range of 6 |

for ANTI-hacker:
Have you read the spell?
https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=31
Bless
The spell fills an allied stack with holy power, increasing the creatures’ minimal damage.
The minimal damage rises up to min+T*(max-min), while T depends on the Holy magic talent level.
The spell raises minimum damage to certain level. It does not add extra damage. |
thats what i meant just told him in simple terms p cosidering 2 as lowest attack and then adding 5.9 to it i just added the no of x-bows to give him an aprox figure thats all |
for ANTI-hacker:
The spell doesn't add... it sets minimum damage.
It sets it from 2 to 8 to become 5.9 to 8, not (2+5.9)-8...
He's asking since it's a decimal, does it become 5 to 8(round down) or 6 to 8 (round up).
*sigh* |
well the answer is no it is usually not rounded up sometimes even min damge +1.5 can be seen p |
I give up, someone else explain to him.... |
