AuthorMods are anti-social??
I couldn't help but notice the lack of group battles that most--if not all--mods do NOT participate in.

In fact, most mods do solo runs or play exclusively (hunts) with the same small group of people. Ie 1-3 guys.

This is a community game, so I think the mods should make more of an effort to participate in group battles--ie where more than 1 person can play with you.

Be more social. Get to know the folks you pass judgements on.

Cheers,
LS
Mods are busy managing their mod work, they have no time to play :)
I disagree with you. They just try to keep their fights clean as any of us. I fight also with players I know or if they are recommended. It happens even to have a moderator in a group combat once. I played also few card games with Kotrin.

I suppose they are just as selective as we are when it's about playing this game.
1.

dude, i got my own agenda as long as i m do thing legally.... do i have to join into yours?
I simply dislike PvP and hence avoid it, nothing to do with being a mod or not or my level of wanting to be social. :/ In fact, I won't waste my time PvP-ing with the people I talk most to in the game (and there are a few of those). :S

Get to know the folks you pass judgements on.

I'd love to, but you gotta be in inquiry chat or something cos that's where I'm always at when online :P
Mods are anti-social??

I find this kind of "opening line" extremely offensive. Sorry not to join group battles, but I saw it nowhere in moderator job description.

Before being a mod I'm the leader of a 700+ members, wrote more than 7'000 PM to other players, have been playing the game since June 2008 and manages forum about 10 hours a day.

I think I know this community very, very well. My conception of "being social" doesn't necessarily includes exchanging blows on the battlefield.
for limustudotcom:

Kotrin has a strong point.Does being social means only PvP-ing ?
Quite frankly, if you look at only "the job description" you are already falling short of a very LARGE portion of community involvment--player versus player battles. But hey, there are some folks in life that are okay doing the bare minimum, or doing their own thing, and not integrating with the rest of the world--that's cool too if that floats your boat.

This is called lords of war and money. The only "Wars" players can participate in as of this time are group battles--later there will be additional battle clan versus battle clan group battles as well (supposedly, dubbed clan wars by many). Anything else can be defined as a skirmish, or a hunt, or a raid, an ambush, etc.

So anyway, this thread was created to point out a valid observation: mods do not participate in group battles (integral part of this game), nor attempt to, although there are plenty of battles they could join but simply do not. Instead they do self battles (thieving, mercs) or hunts (minimal PLAYING time with others). There is no crime in secluding yourself from others as many have pointed out.

I wrote this thread because some folks have argued that mods are elitist, snobs, etc. But this observation does tend to support that picture. Just trying to help you guys patch up your own image--if you even care, anyway.

Cheers,
LS
Well, if I am anti-social, then the questions I have answered on the forums and on chat must really be pure illusion.

I admit to ignoring those that demand to know my a/s/l and what my real name is and whether I am married or not, but I don't think that's really too bad of me.

I do do hunt assist with people that I know and almost all of them are not mods. I have played in 3v3 grp battles too.

If you feel I am anti-social, please advise me as to how to be more social? Play 3v3 GBs all day long?
Most of the Mods (if not all) are in Warriors guild, they dont talk to anyone but Warriors. So if you are in Warriors guild you are just out of luck.I think you have to be in warriors guild to be a Mod anyways for some strange and bazarr reason also.Plus warriors guild is just too big they need to trim it down and get rid of all the people cheating (yes there are cheaters in Warriors guild too)
i think everyone needs to participate in 3v3 and pvp more.....
i am lvl 9 atm and i can some times sit here for hours and not see a lvl 9 group battle come up i used to almost exclusivly group battle but it is now very hard to do so......
i would like to see much more group battiling in general MODS or not Mods the more ppl group battilin the better for everyone the way i see it!!!
Statistically speaking:

8 moderators.
From last 5 pages of combat log, 200 battles
Group battles played: Pang 2, Faithbringer 2, Kotrin 0, Takesister 0, Zyanya 0, Arctic 0, cepruyc 0, Skunder 0.

1600 battles, 4 group battles.

Although I can imagine what would become of forum if Kotrin and Zyanya would play 1 hour group battle and Takesister was asleep in the same time. Rubish, spam and destruction. They play much less battles than regular players who are online 12 hours a day. Forum takes time.
bazarr reason There you go, here is the reason.

I am not in Warriors guild and mods talk to me anyway. :-)
Err... I show that the game:
1) Can be played AND still interact via chat and forums. It's not a power-levelling game
2) Helping new players is critical to server growth, even more than trying to beat MasterTI at being the first to be Level 15
3) Finding a good set of friends you can trust at every level helps you to play well without worries about AFK or cheating

But, ok. I'll try to be in more GBs with strangers... and spread mod love.
You sure they won't take it as an episode of "When Mods attack and bully others"?
Please stay on topic :) This is not about what clan(s) the mods are in. It is simply about their lack of GB activity which is a core part of this game.

Many, many, look at the mods as the "model" player. I don't want that "model" player to be anti-social in terms of PLAYING time. Chatting is fine and dandy, but this is a game, where you either A. Play mostly by yourself, or B. With others (cooperation)

I rather it stress on the importance of community, rather than the 'lone wolf' approach that too many people are starting to take.
For Takesister (Post 15):

1. I never questioned your forum/chat duties. I am sure you excel at both, in fact, you are probably the most active and constructive mod on the queries and help forum that Ive ever seen

2. Heck, I do fewer battles than most mods on any given week. But my battles are "quality" in terms of server interaction--ie 3v3s, hunts, etc. I only do solo missions when there isn't anyone else to play with -_- (Which is becoming all too often!)

3. I agree. Friends are important. Making new friends promotes true long-term growth, though.

Thank you for agreeing to play in more group battles. I believe with your support, and those of other mods, the server can "get back on track" and stimulate interest. Most games that require only YOU to play = die because they get too boring. Games that require YOU+OTHER(S) = last because of the dynamic. So long as people like the game, and wish to play with each other, it will continue. When this ends, game is done.

No, I doubt people will see it as "when mods attack" haha! In fact, I am sure most folks will appreciate you taking the time to play with them.

Cheers,
LS
weird thing, it sounds to me that you are still pissed about some of the last actions mods made and use a stalking-horse to attack them.

Here is why i think so:

a) Group-battles usually don't give you any idea about people. Some might be afk, some might curse others, some might play on their own corner of the map not noticing that there are others. You will never know what the person that doesn't stoneskin your griffins is thinking. Group battles tend to go "hi", "attack xy", "why did you do that", "crap that hurts", "yay finally lucky", sometimes even "well then i just go afk" (<- this makes me especially angry so i tend to not do group battles either - i won't waste my time this way) and then "bb good fight". How do you get to know people from that? You may start spamming people you fought after the battle via pm with questions about their personal life but i doubt it will help. The only thing you do is you may remember some names and the behaviour they had (and in future be less open-minded since you think you know them already - bad thing).
b) It really is pointless to try to know everyone on the server. With about 5000 different IP's loggin in each day it is a never-ending story
c) in a group battle you only get to know people of your own level (everything else is usually a predestinated combat) so the amount of people you get to know even decreases
d) i don't consider mods being watched that badly. Maybe from time to time you lock at their account page and even one or two battles but only because you see their names very often at the forum if you constantly read it. I may bet that the first place player are watched 100 times more than any mod. So the first place player are the real models.
e) with that title and writing style you accomplish nothing since it really looks more like a punch in the stomach than asking for a favour (to be more like the model you imagine they should be)

on the other hand it might be true, mods may from time to time show that they know more than only one side of the game. But i doubt they are only half-minded NPC killing machines. And they do work pretty hard to keep this forum up and clean, consider there are no admins active so many many people think they just can go havoc and mods have to deal with that!
So they are doing a fine job and if you really have problems with their playing behaviour you might ask them kindly if they try getting at least one group battle on every page of their combat log (that's not much but constant)
ah you answered while i still was typing. So forget e)
mods job is to just look upon the happenings of chat and forum and to make sure all rules are observed.

I don't think so there is any rule of permanent group battle participation.

What type of combat a player wants to do is totally his/her personal decision so we couldn't just relate the "anti-social" word with them coz they spend most of their time in forum or chat which is the main source of communication in this game.

After all, there are many people who love to play group battles but never showed themselves in chat or forum and no one knows them and it's not the case with mods they are quite popular.

So how come the 'anti-social' term could be related with them?
