Commanders' Guild - common knowledge

AuthorCommanders' Guild - common knowledge
Hi everyone!

As I noticed some questions about this type of combat, I thought it is good to create a thread with discussions about this subject.

First of all, I would like to make a reference to the official page where CG (Commanders' Guild) was introduced:

https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1890457 (point 9).

Now, few things which are not written there.

1. In order to join CG, you will need to fight your own character (AI control; additional few more troops than you are allowed to recruit, but the same characteristics you have). Not so difficult.

2. To create a CG combat, go to Battles -> Commanders' Guild and press New Challenge. You will have to choose which kind of combat would you like to enter.

3. To join a GB combat, you just press join in an already created combat.

For combat level 11, the required minimum AP is 45, shop artifacts only.

FAQ:

Q: What is CG?
A: Read the link above.

Q: I joined a combat in CG, but the combat didn't start. What's happening?
A: Perhaps the same set of players joined that combat for more than one combat in less than 24h and that is not allowed.

Q: Is there any limitation in faction level?
A: No.

Q: I have the required AP, but I cannot join. Why?
A: Check if you don't have any artifact which is from hunting or thieving and is loaded on your character.

Q: I spent so much time in waiting for an opponent, but I got no one. Is there any way to make people join my fights in CG? I mean something like when you ask for hunt assistance.
A: No special way. The only way to get players for your combats is to contact your combat level players (by PM, messenger if you have their ID's and so on) and to ask them to join you.

Q: Where can I get more information about CG?
A: Post your question here and the more experienced players will try to help you.

I hope this thread will open a communication in between the newcomers and the experienced players (of course, everything here to be related to CG).
hope your post gets sticky for newbies ;)
Ultmately info on the Commanders Guild should be added here - https://www.lordswm.com/help.php?section=39.

We probably already have enough stickies in the Q&H Forum.

Grunge
I still consider this thread as it may become useful for the players who wants to join Commanders' Guild, so, I will bump it just this time. If nobody gets any interest in this discussion, I will let it die. Sorry for this bump.
Rightly done '75. It is a good thread, and very informative. It should be stickied at least.

The commanders guild will probably be added to the about-section at some point, but as for when... Oh, look, a kitty!
a little extra info about this
1. In order to join CG, you will need to fight your own character
This fight is called the mirror fight. Your opponent will have the exact same troop settlement as you (e.g. if you place the shooters in upper left corner, his shooters are at the bottom right). But with one difference, he has 20% more troops than you do.
You have to win this mirror fight in order to get CG points (e.g. from minor or mixed tournaments or a player created challenge here https://www.lordswm.com/pvp_guild.php )
Tips for winning this combat:
Don't recruit any shooters and let the enemy charge first. So you can deal the first blow. For wizards this battle might be difficult, for all other factions this is relatively easy. If you can't beat it as a wizard, you can try to play as a might wizard for that single battle.

And maybe you could make table too, for lev9-15 and the required AP
For lev12 it is: S = 48 AP / SE = 53 AP / FFA = 69 AP
#6:

I was shooter-build Elf (quite fresh at level 11 and after a long break) when I took the mirror fight:

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?lt=-1&warid=24898835

Still, it wasn't quite a problem for me since Elf AI is based more on magic than on might. Maybe it's only about Elf here. :)
#6&7

Was Might-built Knight for my own mirror fight:

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?warid=492928424&lt=-1

Could say it was easy, as AI would do what AIs in PvEss normally do - aim for shooters/prominent targets, disregard retal, etc.

Tip in my view:
If you intent on taking shooters in this mirror fight, while its best widen as much as possible the gap between the enemy shooters and melee units, (ie. let them come to you and you stay out of their range), ensure that the shooters are either dealt with or harassed (by a speedy unit, for instance).
If not possible, then its best to go without any shooters and have a melee fest as said above, which you will most probably win with the help of retal takers and such.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
