hmmm...... it seems hellfire does not befall often. matches against barbs and elves can be won easily if u r a might demon.

Not at all.. There's a reason why demon troops total HP count are the lowest among all factions: to balance its gating ability. After gating, the total HP will be comparable to other faction.

And regarding overpowered mistress, it's also no. If you gate using mistress, you're missing your chance to shoot with them, isn't? By the time she's finished gating, all other shooter are already finished shooting at her :p
i find out that hellfire damage could be increased by 50% by selecting searing fire in the chaos magic talent.

by the way, anyone try extensive gating before? it is situated in the luck slot
Hmm... I see some differences in attack section of the talent wheel...
Offense raises only the melee damage, but correct me if I am wrong Cold blade and Retribution also icreases damages of shooters. At least they did not say melee damage...
Am I right?
How can I calculate if I do better damage with signet ring of might or with ring of inspiration when I have retribution?
(+3atk vs +5% extra damage) if I have 18 atk now with min arts...
+3 atk means +15% dmg..retribution can stack upto +25% dmg..so morale can help.

Yes you're correct, damage from coldblade and retribution is added to both melee and range.
In terms of damage, 3atk (~15%damage) is still bigger than 5%. But you need to remember, +1 Morale can sometimes change the tides of battle.
+3 atk is not 15% more damage!
That formula is aproximately accurate only when the attack parameter of the attacker and defense parameter of attacked are very close. But more the diference, less the damage increase. Use the damage calculator by DarkSooth for more details: http://www.scoalanr11.org/damage/

yeah, tried that. It is crap cause the percentage from extensive gating will be multiplied to your faction lvl dependant gating percentage and not added!

That's not correct Manti!

Each +1 attack parameter is exactly 5% more damage, IF the attack parameter is greater than the defense parameter.

FinalDamage = BaseDamage * (1 + (att - def) * 0,05) [ * retribution * 'others']

The important part to note is that the 5% are always related to the BaseDamage (damage range of creature times number of creatures in stack) and not the FinalDamage!

That can be seen in Darksooth calculator as well! If you take 20 points more in attack than defense the damage has doubled(+100%), because 20 * 5% = 100%. You can scale that up, it won't change cause it's linear.

Of course this fact will bring more complexity, because retribution will bring another percentage factor into play, which will be multiplied furthermore to the damage.

Therefore answering the question of using retribution and more morale providing arts is dependant on the relation of the attack and defense paramters that can be expected.

If you have a high attack parameter already, while defense is low, retribution will be the better choice. If the attack parameter is near the defense one or even lower taking more attack will be better. There are other side effects of course, since the arts in question give you either 2% ini or +1 morale which has its own merit.

To exactly calculate when to use what, you should make yourself a table, so you can always check where the limits are.

I wrote a little awkvard. I said +3 atk is not +15% more damage to the comparison with other talents on the whell, where the extra damage is added at the end and not to the base damage. That's why you cannot compare those percents...
With other words:
+3 atk and +15% damage can be less than 5% extra damage from retribution talent.
example: let's take an attacking unit with 100 attack parameter and an attacked unit with 0 defense parameter. With +3 attack (103 all together) attacking unit will do only 2,5% more damage, where for example with retribution talent (1 more morale) it will do full 5% more damage.
Hope I made my statement clear now.

Only attacking talent wheel works for demons. other talents are crap and also expensive. so it is not worth trying other talents.
with the demon set which make gating powerful and combine with extensive gating talent, a high racial demon could gate lots of demon

too expensive to be worthwhile, i think offense talents are still better. or maybe def talents, its quite useful against those pesky shooters :p

Basic def, adv def, avoidance, last breath... this last breath stuff looks working well against shooters:)
55 I tried those build several times after seeing that battle. Quite good, especially for those type of mercenary battle where you have to survive long enough to kill all the troops.

Btw, anyone knows how exactly the hellfire damage is calculated for mistress and cerberi? Does the fire damage got reduced by enemy magic proof? Thanks!
