| Well, depends on the level, on the Talents and Racial Skill, but most of all on how you play each faction. The one you play better, that is the one you should probably play, but later you can change to the other so you can improve the play with the other faction. |

There is no "better" faction.
All have strengths and weaknesses which vary depending on which type of combat you are doing, e.g. hunts, merc quests, PvP, Ambushing, being ambushed, etc.
All factions have other factions which they are very effective against and others which they are weak against.
Each faction needs different strategies and tactics to play well. If you can grasp the tactics needed then you will do well, if you cannot you will die.
Some factions are easier to develop early in the game like Knight and Necro but very hard to start at higher levels.
In PvP group battles, (not duels), the factions who you choose to fight with you are very important as some support and enhance their partners while others do not.
Just do a search in forums for "best faction" and you will quickly find many and much more detailed posts covering all factions and combinations.
In summary, the BEST faction is the one you enjoy playing the most. |

| Barbarian is better, despite the barbarians magic sheild and the dark elfs magic pericing, dark elf units are in low number and are mainly melee, barbarians over level three should have an easy time disposeing of dark elfs of equal level. |

Overall...having played both...DE is a more useful faction than Barb in every respect: PvP and PvM.
As DiN mentioned though, the best faction is personal--choose one you enjoy and have fun with it.
