Riots in Britain

AuthorRiots in Britain
work for your own life! and dont blame others for it

Imho that's only half way true. There are limits for what you can achieve with your own work. If this limits are setup by society, politicians, companies: Why not blame them?

There is no "american dream". Of course in theory a kid from a poor family can get to a university, but in reality this case is really rare (at least here in Germany and probably in most European countries), because education costs money and time. Of course you never should give up. But you can't expect insight from a kid into politics and society, which doesn't even know the name of the premier minister.

Of course there's more in life then owning a plasma TV. But you can't expect insight in this from a kid, which believes in the common value, that your social stance is defined by what you are able to consume.

That's the reason why kids are rioting and robbing. They know they hardly will be able to pay a plasma TV in the near future, but they think their life gets quality if they own one. So here's their opportunity: Steal one.

We lack a greater vision for our societies. Majority runs for more material wealth and consuming. Our gouverments mostly support economical growing at any price. And the people play the game and ignore critical voices. As long as it runs... In GB they are at a switch point now obviously.

More police won't solve the problem. Rioters are followed by terrorists, police is followed by military and prison camps. And some day you find yourself living in a fascist state.
Of course there's no "American Dream" in Europe; that's for America :)
Don't Europeans have their own dreams?

Actually I believe kids can get that insight. In a proper environment a kid can be raised to not riot at the first opportunity.
Don't Europeans have their own dreams?

You probably know what I mean. "American dream" is a synonym for the believe, that you can get a millionaire if you only work hard enough.

No, at least in Germany there is no dream. It's all about not losing the competion, may it be against other countries or other citizens.

In a proper environment a kid can be raised to not riot at the first opportunity.

Yes, but obviously that wasn't the case for many of those kids, who are rioting now. As I was 16 I knew that rioting and robbing is something what doesn't solve any problems. I am lucky, I guess. What about those who are not lucky?
You probably know what I mean. "American dream" is a synonym for the believe, that you can get a millionaire if you only work hard enough.
Yeah, but it was funny. I don't hear the term "American Dream" used in reference unrelated to America :)
By the way it's no longer 1 million. That was for my grandparents' generation. Due to inflation it's 2 million now. :)

What about those who are not lucky?
If this group is of a significant size, then it's up to the gov, community, culture, and parents to help them.
If this group is relatively small, then it's up... well read the news.
Of course there's more in life then owning a plasma TVthey are rather cheaps now on and you dont need to go bash other peoples tv's:p
my brother was in da riot :D and thanks to him i now have i pod,ps3,psp 3000,and a lot of alcohol
but really if some 100 ppl in da riot would be killed by police everybody else would go home...if not they should kill everybody with tanks and stuff like dat
they are rather cheaps now on and you dont need to go bash other peoples tv's

Sure, cheap for someone who has enough money to spend 397 euros into a browser game. I can't afford either a plasma TV nor such an amount for a game. But I don't need both to be happy.

but really if some 100 ppl in da riot would be killed by police everybody else would go home...if not they should kill everybody with tanks and stuff like dat

And if this doesn't work, they should drop an a-bomb or what? This is not a computer game or a gangsta-rap video. Did you ever even talk to someone who killed another person? I did. It will take years until he gets over it, if ever.
mine plasma tv 32" didnt cost even 300 euros so chance job place if you cant get that much saved..
I did. It will take years until he gets over it, if ever.good, somebody killed 60 years form someones life then you rly should suffer.. diff think if you are killing people to save others
but really if some 100 ppl in da riot would be killed by police everybody else would go home.

No they wouldnt, there would be more riots, remember this started because of someone dying. Besides just killing everyone is a shocking thing to do and would make us just as bad as all those militant Asian countries.
No they wouldnt, there would be more riots, remember this started because of someone dying.

There would not only be riots, but more and more people would go into underground and become what widely is called "terrorist".

But we're talking about something that won't happen, even if some people have wet dreams about it.
they are punch of kids seeing opportunity to rage around without getting any penaltyes, saw on news they were drove purposely over 3 peoples all died..
Yes me too naapa.I read morning news. But bad idea to use water cannons on people to stop riot. That will kill some!I wish they stopped that.
as bad as all those militant Asian countries.

now i can see someone was offended... can i call that as stereotyping? what make you think that all Asia countries were enforcing those hardcore force?

anyway, cut the crap. in short, it was the attitude and ethic problem. someone just doesnt have good discipline/mind/moral (or what ever you called) on himself; blindly join into the riot and making trouble around, that's why the riot getting worse.

it doesnt mean you were allowed to do so when everyone did that. no one is saintly and make no mistake; but it doesnt mean you should lose all your humanity.
Our media is more open. It is for the world to see, even if it is propaganda at times. But Pang, I heard there was many actions in China recently which the government covers up! Sweeps it under the carpet! Is this right? Why are Chinese riots not publicised? Wait! I think you will tell me there was no riot! You don't work for the government do you, Pang?
china is on its own class far behind on basic human rights...
Let's not forget the injustices perpetrated against our Chinese brothers. And we will try not to stereotype. You are right though naapa.
1st of all, since when Asia = China?

2nd, i m not from China and i do read news daily and know what hapeen at there as well.
Is there a way forward for Britain. While the wealthy swindlers from Iceland live large off their ill gotten gains and push high class property prices skywards the sweltering poverty and injustice will go on in Tottenham, Brixton, ______ enter low socio-economic area here.

There is irony about the China thing I brought up. These youths are predominantly stealing consumer products? Which are made in... China. If countries like USA and England etc had a manufacturing base still many of these youths might have a job, and perhaps they could buy the ipod and the plasma and the Beemer for that matter... Sad. :(

If you think America is doing well... Wrong. 20% unemployment. A dollar worth jack squat and falling like felled lumber. Sobs.
