Author | Is it legal to post images of scripts that is not approved? |
As topic, the scripts are ofc legal, just not approved. |
You can post them in your album I believe. Just not place links to them in the forums. |
ok, thx for quick answer
Also thought so, but better be sure b4 proceeding :o) |
Maybe someone else will have a more "official" answer? |
You can not place links to unapproved scripts |
the exception is from the forum rules
3.24.1. It is forbidden to post links to any programs and scripts except those by LazyGreg, xo4yxa, HapblB, and Antviolence. Beware of forgery. |
You can not place links to unapproved scripts
I know, I am talking about pictures in gallery
I seen others doing it, but that is ofc not the same as it is allowed |
Sure, you can even post images in forums (as long as it is related to the topic). The rule just wants to prevent the spreading of unaproved scripts, without the script itself to install, noone should have anything against you. Youtube is a script/programm too, I am free to post youtube screenshots from videos, aren't I ? |

for Hallion91:
If the link is to an unapproved script, link to an image of an unapproved script, link to a video of an unapproved script, link to a web site that describes in text how to install an unapproved script specifically or a link anything pertaining to an unapproved script, then it is illegal. |
To use an example,
A player such as Flour has had her scripts up in her profile for at least a year so if it was illegal to do so I am sure our incredibly strict and active admins would have taken actions by now |
for SpeedOfSound:
But it's not on the forums, is it? |
Technically, since they are not official they are illegal and any user can be on the admin's wish blocked! But regarding rules like they are, you can add photo on your profil, comment and advertise on your profil...
I think rules should be upgraded to prevent such questions or potential problem but still keep in mind, the users of unofficial are illegal until approved or blocked!
I wish rules could change as soon a problem is pointed but it seems not... |
|
It's simple :
There is no rule that forbids it => It's not forbidden.
You're overthinking the situation. Always. An image is an image, a link to a script is a link to a script. An image showing a script is still an image, not the script itself. I miss the days where common sense was used to solve problems. |
