Excursion to the burned empire? I think it was kind of random for a volcano to suddenly pop out under Seraph's Tears, I'm still expecting some sort of plot twist to explain that one. Maybe returning to investigate (or to satisfy some morbid urge to find the bodies of the presumed dead Barbarian and Elf NPCs...). I don't know how .ru natives could use that one, though, since they've never initially been on that empire...

I made these posts as always, to let players think (of course those who are into that kind of thing). There are many hints on what's going to happen, including on what will eventually be different this time from all previous portal events =) But how visible it is? Clearly, not very.

Like, let us try to analyze how obvious it was from start that it is going to be portal of time?
Post 1? Uhm, well... I personally, if I were in the players' shoes, would've never guessed it was leading to PoT.
Why?

Lately I'm seeing it very often, especially in the Ru forum, how people try to find references to any (often pretty random) alt-class for factions that do not have them yet. Don't flatter yourselves; for some reason, .com players assumed that fashion very quickly and also started looking for such references. Some of them literally seemed so absurd that now I can't help putting in fake references to alt classes =D It is amusing to me, but I reveal it now, so this post right here should make you extra careful now in your attempts to decipher the hidden references to future events ;) In post 1 I tried to make it look like we are building something new for the wizards, and naturally, built the entire narration course to start from that point.
Post 2+3 (they were published together).
Okay, now here you already have a few very important things to make the deduction. It says: "Weeks ago, Kh'Everst visited Abu-Bakir and suggested the formula for a substance - 'Portinite' he called it - as a solution to a very critical problem the senior Academic, and in fact, the entire Empire had faced previously."
Of course, to solve it that soon, you would have not only to remember the latest news blocks well; you'd also need to take the period of PoT events into account, and eventually juxtapose those words with the timed aspect.
In fact, one guy in our forum really did have a very correct suggestion, as mentioned in post 63. But I'm somehow sure he got that idea from this thread in the Russian forum:

Now that is a master! I was very impressed. Look at when the post was made (even I wasn't sure back then that we are going to have PoT at this date), but look at how close he was with the date! (Actually, considering that 20th is Monday, and such an event would probably rather not start on Monday, I would call it a bull's eye hit, 100% correct).
So my point is, it was possible to guess it at that stage, but you had to remember LWM history :) Both in terms of period and news contents.
Now, in Post 4 we had the last missing pieces actually spelled out. It says: "We are running out of time, and if I do not find a solution to this problem, we will miss it. Grammith the Warlord will never ratify this undertaking unless we provide him with a failproof sample of an orb. Please, leave me to myself, I need to think".
To me, this one leaves no doubt to what it is going to be about. Those timed and plot aspects are directly emphasized here, so I just have to pat on the shoulder those players who said "alt class" or "MG lvl 5" even after it was posted.

Back to my initial statement, all the hints on what's going to be different are there. Clearly it's difficult to differentiate what's just a literary image and what's a cunning reference, but, after all, even if you don't deduce it in time, you will find out anyway ;) TUE evening or WED morning, depends. On us, not on you.
BtW, there were some very close hunches, but none was a 100% hit =) | Always a pleasure, always a pleasure!

however, my speculations are:
1. what were kh's familiars grasping if it wasnt mana? what could be that vivid coloured substance and what did it quench?
2. that demon seemed suspicious, whatever stroke him, it made him forget his errand; it could be linked to the to the bizzare scenario in the vicinity
3.whatever Bilir's issue is with the orb, it has to be stringed with the contrary's delay; however why would he go back n' forth in time for his deduction?
quite bewildering for me as i might go into aspects of my oqn which may seem enticing, yet, misguiding ;( i can interlink past stuff and make a promising scum of my own :p

Our herald getting too mischievous nowadays lol! :P | I guess portinite orb'S are going to be introduced on either TUE evening or WED morning(sometime where in between of event schedule).
There may be similar to dwarf runes that can be used only in PoT and are enabled at the cost of CoT.
Upon using them the creature may be ressureted or the shots/mana of creature may be back to normal.
Or
upon using them the creature may be teleported to its previous position.
(Since these are the only things that change from start of combat).
And the after effects of using this can be berserk/confusion on creature(the forgotfull ness mentioned in story)

But now a serious question, what is the matter with every 5 moths thing? | The portal always opens when the constellation of the Behemoth is somewhere in the sky (not sure about the details). Only at that time the portal can be opened. Seems this happens every 5 months (sounds logical that there is a fixed pattern).
Now, in the description of the event it said that they "think" it are still the same tribes that are the attackers. So far it is like that, but this sounds like there might more tribes appear ;-). As it had been announced by Abu-Bakir, the Portal of Time was opened exactly at noon, just when the Behemoth constellation was in the zenith.
Stars (except the nearest one) aren't usually visible at daytime, much less at noon, so I guess they must have magical way of seeing since the Sun (or whatever they call their nearest star) should also be at (or really close depending on the season) the zenith at noon. They may also be using clocks although I've never seen references to the horological technology of the Empire beyond the hourglass... they may have really accurate hourglasses though. XD

I don't know what you're referring to but the latest story blocks seem to suggest that the portinite substance may have strange effects on Demonic critters. Or at least to horned demons, familiars, and cerberi. Could be just red herring, though. Creatures were hellhounds, breeder and succubus. Since the admins tend to bring new creatures in the game in batches, I suspect that this was just a hint that there would be an event with that faction later. Since Arctic said that event might be different in some way and that the other factions from the past are also HOMM6 factions, I thought that we would end up fighting them.
Well, event is not over yet and it might just be the beginning of a longer story with more events. Maybe demon creatures are acting weird since they feel brethren from another hell :D. | | infernals are here !! | | Hellfire aura.. o.O |
