It's fine to clarify a rule, and even fine to question or have a discussion about it. These discussions are done between moderators pretty often. However, there is a method to it, and this isn't the way to do it.
Having said that, something like this isn't enough to block you from being a moderator. Everybody still has a chance once the applications are open and they are more than welcome to apply. They will be treated fairly, but obviously previous behavior on the forum may be taken into account.
Everyone has the right to remain silent, but anything they say may be used against them in the court of law, so to speak ;P |

I'm very happy you are not a moderator.
I have been frustated with the selection process which favours cousins ( Eg C__ and C__ D__) and much more.
Forum Rule 4.3:-
4.3. Flashmobs on our forums are forbidden. Flashmobs are events when a player or a group of players post multiple messages of similar content in order to promote a topic, sink a different topic or provoke a moderator to lock or delete an important topic.
Where is there written that messages carrying sense are allowed? Where is there written that I&S is an exception?
And well I am not saying that posting +1s or -1s doesn't carry any sense, but i am saying about E__'s post, that rules are rules. So, the rules must be followed in that way as they are written.
And I wanted to be a mod since two years but the selectors are so mean that they only select their friends and relatives, that's the only reason I am complaining in this forum. I know what I am arguing is foolish but "Simple now it is stil a rule so we need to follow it nothing we can do till it changed.". |

I will help you out off that dream i never select sages because they are my friends that is the most stupid thing to do.
You can say a lott about me but not this.
Most sages now in QaH have become my friends now yes but only after i recruited them.
If Arctic was around he would confirm that 100%.

If by C____ and C___ D___ you mean myself and Corey, we aren't real relatives, and before we became moderators back when the game was very young, we didn't know each other at all. I don't believe moderators are forbidden to become friends with each other.
Flashmobbing in the I&S has always been permitted, and has never been questioned until now. That's because as a moderator, we are allowed to use an amount of discretion in certain situations (where moderators and the general player base are in agreement). Rules should be enforced when the context is appropriate. The reason we don't use discretion for some other rules is because it has been an issue in the past and we don't want people taking advantage of it.
Although I can understand the confusion, the way this rule is handled isn't going to change. The wording of the rule may be changed around at a later date, but for now I think the average player understands it quite well. |

And anyways what is the procedure for selection? Could you tell me how are mods selected without asking any questions related to forum rules and reject them just because they are not high level players and all? |

Until it is changed it MUST be followed as it is and not how players interpret what admins wanted that rule to do. |
I do it different then the forum mods so i can only speak for my self how i do it.
And i am not going to tell how i do it ;)
If you think i do my job bad then be my guest and tell Arctic/Lexa or even the admins and they can decide if i do my job bad and sack me if they wish to do that.
I wont blame any one if they would do it all i ever wanted is to help out the .com community. |
Wonerla, by your logic the instigators in this topic should all be banned and the forum topic closed or deleted. This is another time when the player base has deemed this a necessary breach. If you still have an issue with it, you will have to escalate it further.
The selection process was outlined by myself earlier in post 30 |

The process has changed over the years, but normally involves a long list of questions (normally based on a combination of game knowledge and proper decision making in the forums).

Yes I did it in recruitment period.
I was only asked to PM my details like daily playing hours, skype acc, months in this game, etc , no forum rules related question |

| Although I don't recall this particular set of questions (I may have been MIA), it would have been a recruitment just to fill in the holes in timezones when we were understaffed. In reality, we could have 10 forum moderators on at a time, but that will only complicate things. Moderators need to be hired when there is a demand, and there probably wasn't a demand for your timezone. |
The only reason it may seem like only friends of moderators are being recruited is because when players help each other on the forum, a natural friendship forms. It's really not that complicated. When I was recruited, I didn't know any of the other moderators personally.
During the other recruitment periods, we had discussions talking about exactly what we were looking for (times of activity and level of English are normally the first things we look for).
And I can assure you that if everything has met our criteria, you are put forward. You can believe there is some crazy conspiracy similar to the 'Illuminati' going on in this game, where the moderators gather around a table and discuss how we will get our best friends involved, but that is just false. |
If any guy is saying that he is almost 12 hours online per day , Fluent in english too , Known to all rules , and he being still disqualified ( 3 times! ) , this clearly shows the fault in this procedure which i already told above.
But still , its being old.. I won't discuss more on this topic , but I am sure such system will happen again and again in future :)
