Indeed you did. This one is not exactly the same but quite similar. Using this strategy you could quite easily win that battle.
As for the guild itself some tweaks would be nice, for example:

I mostly play as unholy for now and not that I care much about my troops setup in the hunt/boss quests as it is almost irrelevant, but for some factions a wrong setup could be game or at least star losing.

I would suggest to remove that "luck" factor and show the enemy army from the start of the setup.

I had more in my mind but I cant remember right now ^^ The guild is really interesting, huge variety of battles !
i thought the battles were tested for factions and level ...

The loss of your fortune genies in the first move is a game changer, I would be tempted to not split genies, purely so that you can leave a lone gremlin as bait in front of the horses without anything else getting hit.

You will then have a large heavry hitting stack to counter with in addition to what you had in that game, which should make a very sizable difference. You could also put your shooters on that side, gaining more of a through shot advantage and putting your large stack of gremlins in range.

Furthermore if you can protect your first aid tent it has a hefty heal rate, so aim to not let a stack die if possible and you may get a lot of creatures back to help with more stars.

Given those changes I would expect you to win nicely and so think you should give it another go.

Some thoughts for you.

Your problem is you have two ranged units that are doing the damage, one of which is slow. Meanwhile the dragons force you to kill them first and destroy your ability to block in your ranged units from the demons and guards. You also are using a holy magic build whic is slower to provide benefits and by whichtime (as stated earler) you cannot defend your ranged.

Therefore in my opinion you need to switch build away from holy and try and gain multiple viable damage dealers to kill drags quicker. you may in this set up split shooters so you delay the approaching demon and guards as they will aim for one side and not bunch. Also consider defensuce griffs as per Lose the 7 spell power and reduce knowledge, perhaps casting phantom a touch later

1. use unupgraded griffins to block dragons.
2. use teleport to help wardens(and its phantom) run away from slow enemies after dragons died, with help of teleport and wasp they can hardly catch your wardens. you may need some more knowledge to proceed this.
3. pray for a max damage on the first strike.

The potion of skill has effect in Watchers' Guild combats (at average faction skill level at the given combat level)

what is average fsl for various combat levels?
as a dwarf im finding all of these battles pretty easy, all apart from the hunt one.

any advice from you dwarfs out there?
You have only faced two that I could see - so not too much to say I think

Placement is super important, and obviously this is blind - I find that it is not unusual that i I lose the first one - it can be turned around and you get 3 the second time around - just because of starting positions

you can position to limit the effect of shrews - the bandits with low ranged damage are no problem, so do not be tempted to rush them too soon - it is all about killing the brutes - let them advance - then strike - ignore bandits till later if need be- though strike if you can get a good rune of retribution opportnity (which is likely given the number of stacks).

Position your shooters to anticpate teh advance of brutes to get into range - lure with a single stack and incorporeal if needed.

Certainly winnable and I would reckon with full stars

As for the other multiple hunt you lost taht is far harder - again I think you rushed too soon - though a paw knock with bears would have changed it all. As a general rule if it is likely to come down to your bears running round paw knocking them, then don't commit them too early, wait till the enemy has had total hp reduced a bit by shooters - then go in for the knock - much more likely to work then.
