Some battles you can't win is good?


I've given up on this event tbh...
23/36 (Not good) :p
5 losses in the last 8 games and I am done ...
no point playing something that is not enjoyable.
26/28, 2239 population, many battles winned with negative population but wins after all.

My 2 cents, first I play with Fury Barb but soon i see that dont work fine the build with shooters and luck Then i change to Dark Barb and much better.
Dark magic is a must in this event, delay and curse opponents while the towers do their job, orcs confuse shooters so they are almost neutralized and use boars + birds 2 kill and block some opponents, and ogre magi ( with 40 is more than enough for cl17) cast and Finnish the battle or take retails.

About talents, full dark magic and then go for morale, ancestrors shadows i think is useless for this event.

And towers, my strategy, maybe not the best, is build towers 1 by 1. An un-upgraded tower os useless, no point to have 2 or 3 towers dealing minimal damage, much better invest those resources into Attack, HP or talents.
First one with attack 8+, HP 6+, No range penalty + double shoot. Used to kill and lure shooters (no problem if they shoot, enemy shooters are confused, and tower has 750 HP)

Then buy second one with same stats but knocking shoot + double shoot. Used to knock :p, is quite effective with 1 knock every 4 arrows ( 2 turns))

And all the event has been played with phone, lol!

Sorry admins, but to be honest, this is the worst event I ever joined, I don't think can make 40 wins to get the pendant, unless spending more gold on luxurious arts, which I refuse to do.

Low rewards, useless looted arts, low winning exp, unreasonable enemy size, not doable for certain factions (as a DE, I've tried Classic Might and Chaos, defensive TDE, but none of them works good, either lose, or win with all hits and farmers died)

The only good thing in this event is the losing exp is similar to the winning exp, at least for me.

I hope admins can take this seriously, and don't have hard feelings with this post, I just voiced out my opinion as the login page has written: LordsWM is a non- commercial project, it is a free online service from gamers, for gamers. Every player is able to improve this free online game.
I agree with woodbox. I tried playing with dark barb and i won 3 on 3 games inspite of forgetting to add any talents. I mean i won 3 freaking battles with no talents at all. But the only problem is since dark barb lack initiative and are slower than the other barb races, the population dies :(

fun event for me.
this settlement event require some different strategy approach compared to other event.

some fact to help creating strategy :
the battlefield is wide
you have some unit protect
tower have fixed att def value and can't be buffed.
winning with peasant dies but house intact is better than peasant survive but house destroyed.
Just to add to the advice from Krabylos which I agree with
You can give towers luck with fortune genies - this is very very useful when they are upgraded
the battlefield is wide and deep

With towers sometimes a sacrificial advance with a faster unit to hit a shooter at the back, will cause an advancing troop to move backwards, thus giving your towers effectively two more firing opportunities before the advancing troop would get there.
Fine event for me, can kill almost everything exept knight.

unlike cannon in the pirate battle, the archer tower is viewed as normal ranged unit by AI which means it will targeted first if you dont have any higher priority stacks such as fragile fast and high damage unit (shrews, thunderbird, gremlin wrecker).
plz see my profile and tell me should i continue this event or should i wait for next event as i need 10k exp to lvl up and thinking for TGI asap

Pheonix22 given your results...you should continue this event mate. High chances of you coming in the top 100 in the end and getting good rewards too. Besides leaving an event halfway would be just a waste of money.
Since you have a good record so far...i think yo should complete all 72 battles and aim to be in the top players list

It took me about 30 battles to understand that dark barb is a better choice than the normal barbarians lol
Since i have upgraded to dark barb.....i think its getting a little easier for me to win except for 1 or 2 losses
Played 12 battles today and won 9 out of them. 75% win ratio is good enough for me :P

@Meshy: What I've meant is that I like events that are challenging. Moreover, nobody likes to lose. However, losing give us the kick for improvement. Regarding this event, Dark Barb Rules.

Is shadow barb helpful here?
Or they start killing the peasants before my troops?
Shadow barb is the best for this event as per my observations personally
But you will need to use your spells carefully
Because if you are too slow then your civilians will die
so balance your troops accordingly
i have got 24 battles more........ am gonno play all 24 with dard barb now
Shadow barbarian is an overall good faction anyways , it rocked in 2vs2 paired tournament aswell. Its probably the only faction that can make even the best of dark demons to sweat badly for victory , mostly cause its hero + troops both can cast dark magic and it even get spirits for that like tribals also those boar riders ignore defense by 20% and and then the hero has disruption ray aswell. noone of dark demon troops before cave demon cast any dark magic idk how much more buffed they feel after ogre magi can cast chastise aswell. and beleive me when i say that people hate dark demons for turning even a pretty easy looking victory upside down and we have the same hate for shadow barbarian.

might be true at lower levels. At my level, shadow barb is not a good fighter against dark demon especially if barb gets no help from teammate. Dark demon does not need help however.

This is mainly because, both temptress and vermins become a huge problem. Vermins keep draining mana and temptress will just take dark rocs to attack+debuff ogres and get hurt in the process. This class has no damage besides ogres anyway so once ogres have been debuffed, demon can just keep disrupting until ogres defense reach 20 or something before he can even attack. The point is, you are yet to experience the DD dominance at level 10.
