|Luckily, the return from the expedition was uneventful; every possible experience that an adventure like that could offer had already happened in the faraway lands. But now, in anxious anticipation of the meeting with the dwarven commander, all those struggles were beginning to seem like a trifle.|
"So I see you brought back a, mmm, souvenir. Not wrapped up like a present, but that’s all right," said Tolgar, examining the humongous leviathan claw sticking out from the broadside of his flagship. "But… what the devil?!" The dwarf shot the court mage a menacing glance. "Did you have to collect every single reef out there?! No, wait… Don’t tell me you went hopping across whirlpools? This was already considered madness back when I was a boy yanking girls’ beard ponytails. That’s why they no longer have any! Just kidding." Despite the joke, no trace of a smile could be seen on Tolgar’s face. "See, I’ve still got my sense of humor about me. Start explaining before I lose it!"
"Those are war scars," replied Abu-Bakir calmly, even nobly. "Who said they can adorn only seasoned warriors like you, my old friend?" said the mage with a bland smile. "Your ship was baptized by fire in a battle against one of the greatest leviathans, the Bane of the High Seas himself! The legacy of this feat will last for centuries to come, with the scars as proof that it really happened!"
"Hrm… You think so?" Tolgar seemed pensive.
"Certainly!" replied Abu-Bakir without missing a beat. "Have I told you any lies?"
"You mean today?" asked the dwarven commander, looking at the mage askew.
But no answer came. With a meaningful chuckle, Abu-Bakir simply vanished, a burst of magic sparks settling slowly on the stone quay. Before the dwarf now stood a lonely gremlin, who had been hiding behind the mage’s back. After the mage evaded responsibility so swiftly, it seemed like the little fellow now had a day off. "Follow me, lad," said Tolgar with a tired sigh. "A mug or two of mead will do us good, and in between those I’ll give you a message to take to your master. You know how to play Two Towers, don’t ya?"
Lords and Ladies, Abu-Bakir’s expedition into faraway lands has been successfully concluded! The court mage thanks everyone who took part and has granted a special event artifact to all those who managed to defeat enemies of level 10 or higher. The artifact’s durability depends on your highest cleared level.
