@241. Evil is a label. It's also a relative concept, and it's rare to find the easy black and white evil as shown in stories and movies. Someone is Roman times who only beat his slave when they made the worst of mistakes may have been though of as a great and just man, but now someone having a slave, let alone beating them, would likely be seen as evil.
Good/Evil. Just/Unfair. Compassionate / Heartless. All just labels that have their place, but you'll never find a definition everyone is happy with. There are definately actions I'd call evil. The Holocaust, the Rwandan Genocide, the collective punishment of Iraq for the actions of A Saudi who was hiding in Pakistan. now, what is in the effect, derives from what caused it. if you say the self emerges from all-material causes, i challenge you to find any trace of "evil" in anything material. a particle, a structure... something that contains in itself the root/cause of feelings and other immaterial notions.

IMO, anyone who believes in the "Trinity" is actually a Christian, rather than a Messianic Jew. Judaism includes the concept of a messiah, but currently the mainstream Jewish religious variants don't accept Jesus as a messiah (Judaism, as I understand it, allows for many messiahs). I imagine this is because the belief of the Trinity is considered "Idolatry" by Judaism.
From what I have seen Modi seems to enjoy the misunderstanding caused when he claims to be Jewish, when really he should be saying that he is *ethnically* Jewish, which is a very different notion from being a follower of Judaism.
BTW Syrian, what about someone who, for instance, claims to be "The King of Evil" and frequently behaves in such a fashion? What would your opinion be of such a person?

We see a future battle where many people are united in hatred against Israel. They form a confederacy as it says in verse 5.
Now historically, these peoples fought each other for thousands of years.
You can do your own research to see who they are but they already have a confederacy. They are united by a single religion now where as at the time of the prophecy, 3000 years ago, this was far from the case.
Their hatred is evident and their goal is clear, to wipe Israel off the map.

Fortunately we have seen that Modi also believes that there is an "End of the World" event imminent. Modi has previously mentioned "Russian, Iranian and Turkish" armies to me for this "prophecy". I would like to ask how long we have to wait before this "event" happens, but Modi now realises he shouldn't make such specific claims because of religious beliefs. Thinking about it, Modi's dislike of me is kind of a badge of honour. I'm disliked by someone who is both a Creationist *and* a believer in Intelligent Design! It's practically a lock for a place in the upper echelons of society.

i told you i'm not interested in commenting Modi, or you, or Fishy. but i can tell you about me; you may draw your conclusions and, "mutatis mutandis", apply them to Modi:
i use my "syrian" character to explore, in roleplay, a dark side to the soul. something i do not allow myself in real life. in my life, i live by Christian moral and standards. so i use fiction to delve into the "evil" and its possibilities. while i create such a character, i get to test the coherence of some attitudes and what must be the conceptual foundations of such attitudes.

Looks like there was a big spike of people using the phrase "Peace and Safety" in the 1820's? Did the world end then? I'm not sure. Seems kind of pointless to predict such a thing. If people use the phrase "Peace and Safety" and the world doesn't end, guess we move to the next time period, and then the next, and then the next, and then...

A brain cell, a neuron, by themselves are nothing, but together they can form a greater whole with feelings, emotions, etc. Just because an individual cell can't have emotions and feelings, doesn't stop a complete being having those things.
As you have gone to where does will, emotions, etc, come from, I put this to you. If a creator exists as in the book, all powerful and all knowing, then our free will is an illusion.
All knowing means he knows all, past, present and future. All powerful means that when he creates us he can create us however he wants. He knew when he was creating me that I'd be an atheist. He knew that I'd be writing this post, and that with a simple change of his mind he could make me a christian, or a muslim, or make me stop writing and grab a cookie now.
Everything I do, he could have changed me to make me do everything differently. Nothing I do is my own free will. I am just a character following the script he wrote for me when I was born. An all knowing all powerful god means free will is an illusion.
