GH set would work nicely. Anything under that would be suicide.
GH is waaay to expensive to use in TG though. I mean, the cost of battle would be around 4.5-5k. I don't think anyone could afford it, and we probably don't have enough GH sets around anyway :)

I've been Hunter 5 for a while and the only GH drops I've had were two Rings :(

Do you also need a special talent to make it usefull?

You don't need a talent to cast the raise dead spell.
i know, but IF you take it, your raise dead spell is much better? or isnt it worth that little bit extra?
I haven't tried using basic nature magic. In fact I don't use raise dead at all. It's usually not worth the -2 morale.

At level 8 I'm using expert luck, or offense + battle fury when I'm hunting with spites.

I will change to nature magic only at level 10, when I will need it for phantoms.

This is indeed the best combination of talents at lv 8. Nature magic is just a waste for elves before lv 10.

Yes. it will be better. if usually u can raise 2 unicorns, with the talent, u can raise more unicorns at a time.

I don't think so. i use bless more than raise dead.
Raising dead at the right time, sometimes can make a big difference and separates you for being dead or alive =)

But of course, it is not wise to use it at the beginning of the fight.
Use it near the end, when you and your opponent both are already weak or when your next turn is EFK or Grandmaster bowmen and they are ready to pack a big damage ;)
Be aware of that -2 morale penalty. It will mess you up pretty bad if you use it at the wrong time. It's tough to get a good opportunity to use it.

Probably not, it was a good idea to raise there. Raising should always be done if it ensures the win; but raising as a "precaution" can usually lead to many missed turns. I've learned first-hand how bad raising can be, even if it looks like a good time. If you aren't even close to beating them you're only buying a little more time.

I agree, I just want to add information that Raising Dead is not something that you should avoid by all means. I have some battles (if I can dig into my combat log) that I won in hunting or ambushing just because I can raise my dead troops.

It is fun to see when you were ambushed and the Thief is nearly sure that s(he) can win, but suddenly after I raise.. the situation is flipped back =)

I recommend to build Magic Guild level 2 in Elf Castle (if you can afford it).

Raising dead is not only what you got from it, you know. You can have Dispersion and Stoneskin from your hero too. Wasp is not so good to have, so I never use them on my hero. I let my sprites to do that =)
Wasp Swarm is actually much more powerful from your hero and will move enemies back on the ATB scale by a couple slots. If you choose to focus on Magic (which I would not recommend until you get Summon Phantom) Wasp Swarm is even more useful.
My spell power is 0, and I will increase it when I can summon phantom =) Thanks anyway for the information
As far as I've noticed 1 sp is better than 1 extra attack. Of course, I did beef up my knowledge in anticipation of being a Magic based elf much later; and the possibility of switching to Wizard or Necro.
so for me its good to buy a potion of oblivion?
I have now:

10 attack
2 defence
1 knowledge

without artifacts
So at level 8, 1 i have 1 extra point to spend, with potion of oblivion it would become

9 attack
2 defence
2 knowledge
1 spellpower

Like this? so change 1 point from attack to knowledge, and add one to spellpower
I find 2 kn/2 sp preferable as lvl 8 elf..
