Authorelves faction topic
I'm thoroughly enjoying 3 knowledge... it gives plenty of room for your Holy spells if you need an emergency raise or dispersion.
another lose against a caravan =(
Everytime i have to wait a whole hour... its really annoying
Im using full artifacts and i barely make any mistakes..... and still they completely own me....
Don't get discouraged. You need EFK. Look at my combat log and all of the caravans. EFK are the winning units. Of course, I do rely on my Unicorns quite a bit near the end.
"Giants? i never saw any 1 of them in thief mission."

To you I dedicate this battle:

"Titans deal 414 damage to Elite forest keepers. 35 perish."
i met those titans too back then. before, when i'm doing thief job at lvl 7, there's no such thing. lol. but, thx gem.
344~

I think having them as a favoured enemy could barely have saved you. Or even a timely Raise. But still... unlikely. Init arts and level 9 would have been best ;p
@344

I did not say that my choice of FE caused my defeat. I have sphynxes as FE and it has won me a combat already.

This time I was simply overwhelmed. Just like in a previous combat where I was facing 11 devils.

By the way... Do you know any good tactics or something against huge high defense creatures? Like giants, devils, stoneskinned treefolk...
Against creatures like those my EFKs and sprites are quite useless, only unicorns and extreme luck can save the day.
Well, as an elf stoneskin should never be an obstacle. Disperse that unit as soon as you can; whether it be with sprites or -- more preferably -- with your hero.

For high defense creatures the battle will be very very tricky. I find that focusing on them can sometimes kill you too quickly. I lose against large stacks of Hell Hounds and Devils; and on one occasion Sphynx Warriors. I guess I just don't have any major help for you when it comes to those caravans. Any help you can get is very situational.
My apologies for a double post.

This last battle I had is an excellent example of the use of magic with elves, as well as the importance of initiative based arts.

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?warid=475263083&lt=-1

Here I was traveling with my Thief recruit and full arts. The Thief had me on defense and attack; but I had him on initiative, knowledge and spell power. It would have been very close at the end; but the Raise ensured the win at the end -- while still leaving plenty of mana for previous spells (which proved to be of little use in a ditto match anyways lol).

Now, I am not knocking my opponent. As far as I can tell we played equally; with a few hiccups on both sides. This is why I am using this battle as an example that init and knowledge can really help an elf in a time of need.

well, I can present this battle to you... and i'm a level 7

This is another example, on how Raising Dead can save you from the Dead itself
=)

https://www.lordswm.com/warlog.php?lt=-1&warid=7267357
And this is an example, how even Raise Dead can't save you if 48 vamps get luck on their firs turn, and your luck and critical damage don't proc at the critical moments:

By the way is there a cap on luck stacking? How much is the max you can get? I have +4 luck at the moment, but it seems that luck befalls units of elven and undead caravans just as often as mine.

Do you think +3 luck and +3 morale would be better than +4 luck and +2 morale?
I would rather have +3 luck and +3 morale... though I can't really say which is more effective.
352,

I still think that Raising Dead can make a winning. But in your case.. it is for the Necromancer =) They are more powerful than you and can raise better.. hey.. they are undead, and it is their nature to raise, lol...

In my opinion, you lose not because of you raise your troops.
If you didn't raise, you will still lose... right?

Try to use the Raise when you face other factions (not Necro). They have more mana, and can raise a lot more than you

Raising dead is tricky. But like I said, if we can use it on the right time... it can make a HUGE difference
wow I just tried out the extra row for placing troops you get (tactics talent) and it does wonders, you can hit with sprites on the first round, pretty cool
I fear that without strike and return it wouldn't be worth it :(

Agree here. Sending sprites to the enemy means they strike on first turn - but don't survive till second :/
357:
but u'll create havoc on enemy troops
either they hit the stoneskinned sprites/EFK or the elven bowmen who will get their turn next after that
You could plan ahead though and use this effectively vs ranged hunts. Split Sprites into small stacks and use them to block the first turn of the shooters. However, I think this will only work against large creatures. I don't think the Sprites will reach back ranks on their first turn. So, perhaps, Titans?
the tactics will be good if you fight a low init enemy like zombies.
This topic is long since last update and considered obsolete for further discussions.
