You've never been wrong before?

Never had a situation come up where you thought something was guaranteed, and later found out things turned out different
Not while I was reporting here at LWM if we are going to STAY ON TOPIC.
Guys, this is degenerating into a personal war of words (and some of the comments is bordering on out-of-bounds for this forums), and that is definitely NOT what I&S is about.

You have ample posts to air your opinion, and since not of us but the admins can implement an idea/suggestion, it's of little (no) use to convince another person your opinion is right (or others are wrong).

This should end right here. Make your comments about the topic or in generic terms, and not directed to a particular person.

Fair warning.

PS: Go fight some battles and have fun. After all, this is what this game is all about. :)
Yeah like anonymous proxy server ip softwares, I would like to set anonymous name generator so probably every one could complain free of afraid! But at that same time I fear some one will breach the game's security with that too!So that your idea is fact if you send privately messages, the nthe keepers will be confused by each letters.

If there will be a forum page like only the keeper and the poster can see it,Then it will be good where we can't find third party comments. But at the same time,forum-mods and other advicing players will find it difficult to see.So what to do!
If you hide posts about "potential" cheats then the person accused will have no way of providing additional information to prove they are not cheating and/or will not even know they have been accused until they are fined or blocked by admins when it will be too late.

And why couldn't the "staff" investigating a report contact the player accused for more details?

thats not possible mate, plenty of cheaters are here.
language barrier, timing barrier and still lots more difficulties are here.
Didnt read the topic but I like the idea in the header. I have had poor experiences reporting cheaters and often I just cant be botherd, it takes too long and there is the risk of banning from trigger happy mods. If there was just a report this play option that they have on say xbox live with a space to input any extra details would make things way simpler and would also make reviewing applications faster and easier for the admins and keepers ets.

+1
+1 I agree with anonymously .. the most important point is that the anonymous ones still have to "OBEY" the rules and give the details .. :)
I think the problem with anonymous reporting is that a person can report his own multi web can get them all blocked so that he can create new characters and no one would know or trace.

If anonymous, there will also be a hard time tracing if the report is part of a hate-mongering scam or not if no names are attached

Currently when someone make a report on C&A, the accused then digs up ALL the dirt on the accuser and pull him or her down with him, which may be a thing to avoid. Retaliation is bad.

Why not a reporting system that is half-anonymous? The admin and mods in charge can see the name of the reporter and ensure no conspiracy to do a smear campaign but prevents the accused from retaliating?

This is what I was after. I personally have no issue with the admins knowing who reported. My only issue is the public knowing who reported, and the accused knowing who reported.

With that said, I have no issue with the admins looking into the accuser's history either, as thats completely within their right to do so.
There are a ton of players I've come across over the past few weeks, who's transfer / combat logs are clearly and without doubt in breach of the rules, however, I don't feel comfortable reporting these players in an open forum.

I whole heatedly believe that I'm not the only person who feels this way, and as such, I ask, why is there no way to report anonymously?

Hi Groder

I understand where you are coming from. You could report someone who is cheating and out of spite the cheater could monitor you and report you when you make an innocent mistake. And how would you know if they did it with a multi.

I used to report a lot of cheaters but stopped a year ago for several reasons. Most of those cheaters don't play anymore, but "two of them" (really only one) were popular and "respected" players.

That particular cheating player once deliberately and falsely reported me for cheating for an offence that would result in a ban and block. If the investigating Administrator had of taken that player at their word and not investigated, I would have been finished. And if that player had of made that report anonymously it would have been a lot more difficult for me to defend myself.

So for that reason I disagree with your suggestion. Too much mischief can be caused by players that can too easily sidestep accountability.

Cheers
What is the point in reporting anonymously ? Why you wanna be in the shadow when pointing out people ? Be a man and show yourself when you report others ...
Where is everyone getting this anonymously crap.

I never said anything about anonymous. I said, directly to the staff, rather than in front of every other player who plays the game.
Maybe on the thread title itself? =P Of course not everyone who post read through all the replies on the thread.
heh...

my bad.
Hmm....if there is anonymous going there, then breaching of the game's security will be more and it will weaken the game's security. Many a times bugs will be crashed and servers will get stuck. Many will try to ping out the lords web ip in their own and try to set proxy ip for their own!So that is failure!
I agree to this that anonymity should be there but to a level like players can see the complaint but can't see that who complained but admins can see that who has complained . So +1
It would be much easier if the admins just put some simple checks into the programming to stop things like same IP transfers and multiple transfers between 2 players in favour of one of them. Any very large transfers could be automatically highlighted to them to look at.
then the staff would be bombed with tons of messages while checking in a forum is a lot easier ....
