AuthorFirst official LWM poetic contest [support topic]
And now to wrap it up in style

Never say die

And it was a shattered dream yet had I followed it long
Had my life been shattered as the dream
And would I full of memories, teem
In the ocean of pain
To not to be able to see
What I ought to long ago

Al that’s to be talked about
Senseless and ignorant, of things
(You) fly me over and pass me by
And never heed a shout

You never turn and reply
And the path trudges uphill
Don’t rest your lance where emotions lie
Your path moves on so don’t be still

Emotion never conquered skill
All the peace that lasts this land
Is ever a single man’s will
You lag along and the way moves on
All the world a blur
And the dead cry on, you never stir

When the flame of hope wavers again
Valour in heart is easy to feign
Ascent of the dark and trust’s bane
The will to live life will drain

Closer when lingering shadows loom
And fate sets out to meet the doom
And you stand on the threshold of pain
All tattered drapes and many a stain
And ever as a ghastly knight death strides the plain
Open arms and a smiling face
And you forgotten remain

The starlight turns you down again
And ever as a ghastly knight death strides the plain
And death seems dear rather to live again
And you, a leper, remain
Remember, forever, the crescent moon does not wane
Your faults and loss lie behind they do
On and on the way moves on and so should you

- Igles Lonestrider
I also want to thank the jury for taking their time and analyzing, reading and grading the poems, and all the participants and readers.

I will work on another contest - perhaps with a different theme, or free-for-all, or perhaps this time it will be a short stories' competition, etc. What is certain - with my deep sympathy for LWM English-speaking community and its players I will be glad to serve and help to develop Creative Works' forum subsection further. With the help of a handful of talented people it won't be too difficult.
Big thanks to Worf for managing this competition so successfully and gratz to all participants for making it fun!
worf, you missed two more poems (pravinj and sultan999)that are proven to be plagiarized, the links to the real poems are posted earlier in this thread

Damn.. what I've been smoking.. :( Right you are.

Anyway, none of them was threatening the lead anyway. The X-box wasn't contest related, and the one Sultan has taken... honestly, didn't like it at all, and neither did the judges.
I would also like to thank everyone involved.
The level of participation exceeded my expectation, and I have enjoyed reading many works of this contest. Good job from all those who weren't embarrased to experiment, thumbs up people! A poem isn't always about rhyme, but about sense of rhythm and meaning, and I'm sure, the jury made good evaluation of some 'vers libres' as it were.

I'm a tiny bit saddened by a relatively high level of plagiarizing. I have no doubt that should those concerned have tried to compose an original piece of work, they would've exceeded the works found on the web. Take note, guys.

Also, great thanks to the jury members for granting this contest due attention, and of course, Worf for the bright idea and for making it all happen.

Congrats to the winners, you have earned your prizes well! I think this is a good start, and I believe we should organise more creative contests from time to time, and amplify the number of prizes, maybe add some unique artifacts, achievements and/or diamonds ror the winners.

Keep it up, be creative and original, and both your wealth and fame will grow =)
Congratulations to all, it was very interesting and fun - especially the waiting part, when you showed some serious improv skills :)
I hope we can do this again the future.
Big thanks to Worf for making it a success, keep up the good work.
Who won?
So, ladies and gentlemen, the long waiting has come to an end.

We begin with sad news. The jury had to disqualify two of the poems completely:

- master_elbin (post n.8) - plagiarized (proof: http://www.poetrysoup.com/poems/best/tree)

- Sir__Ankur___ (post n.10) - plagiarized (proof: http://allaboutsportsandbooks.blogspot.ca/2011/05/game-of-war-war-is-game-it-proves-that.html)

The poem of PravinJ (post n.9) - didn't answer the contest rules (wasn't related to LWM and Heroes' world at all), so 2 of 5 judges gave it a zero mark. I didn't disqualify it though, the poem itself isn't really bad.

Two other works had some points deducted by judges cause they surpassed 64 lines (Sultan's and one of Igles works).

*Lord Syrian* would win the contest with a final 8.75 score (y, this is the highest among the works posted!), but, sadly, he was a jury member, so he competed out of contest this time. Excluding his work from final sheet :(

FINAL STANDINGS (judges: Arctic, Lord Syrian, Lady Laitha, Warlock Naviron, Worf):

K5isback - 7.6 (post 11)
ParaLeul - 7.4 (post 13)
Igles - 6.8 (post 2)
Igles - 6.2 (post 18)
Astrid Swift - 6.0 (post 19)
Igles - 5.8 (post 17)
devin_2011 - 5.6 (post 11)
devin_2011 - 4.6 (post 15)
siddi1111 - 4.2 (post 5)
Sultan9999 - 3.8 (post 7)
PravinJ - 2.0 (post 9)

Having to discard Lord Syrian (great work btw!), I hereby name K5isback the victor! Gratz to ParaLeul with 2nd place and Igles with 3rd.

I will speak to Arctic to distribute the prizes among winners.
congrats K5 you deserve it!
Thanks bro :)
I don't know if you guys noticed but the best thing about this competition increased the activity in creative works section
Indeed. I am working on other contest project
and we are waiting 3:)
