Author41st Minor tournament++
I once saw a great tactic.. use agility rune on spearmen (front line placement) and do a melee attack on the enemy
That extra agility rune at FL12 I can imagine is really rather useful. One of the dwarves who got 15 from 15 at CL12 doesn;t even use the spare runes talent so as to take advanced defence. This only works because at FL12 he still then has 2 agility runes.
used a rush rune to remove shrew to free up invokers, which didn't kill them, then used rush on bears to block lizards.

Well, to be fair you did not have much choice here, I guess there was a fair chance to kill the shrews and if going berserk you would have killed the other shrew, and the other berserk couldn't go berserk on the shrews either, probably couldn't reach it anyway. Blocking the lizards is mandatory.
why are two agi runes necessary, you will usually only use it on dragons, no?
You pretty much always need one for dragons to get them in the mix early. Frequently using one on beserkers is useful, either in blocking shooters of say elves, or to remove blockers to invokers hitting front line
but you wont really get to block shooters of elves or remove blockers if the enemy knows you have spare rune anyway.
I dunno, it was useful in this one. Expected to lose, classic shooter elf is pretty good against rush dwarf

wow thats a very good battle. Elf had no luck in the early stages and that hit from dragons on unicorns >.<
rune of charge is never too much, I wish I can have five of them.
about dwarf vs magic de, at level 17+ with all tier upgrades:
assume you have 3 rune of charge, if not, something should be changed.
3 rune of charge alocated for bear, dragon and spearman, bear kick ladon(must), if you let ladon set defended at the first turn, it is almost a sure lost. invoker use its ability.
hitting priorty at first turn is witch>dragon>anything that has not set defended, if your 9 initiative units moves behind black dragon, you may have to rune of charge on invoker to hit dragon before it set defended.
always note that if black dragon and ladons set defended, they become very hard to kill, kill or knock them before they move is the top prior.

magic de vs dwarf:
put a good settlement that get the best position to nuke if enemy doing right.
pray for enemy putting his spearman on the back line.
pray for your dragon move before enemy 9 ini creatures.
pray for less luck before your units set defended.
Whew, 15 out of 31 battles won with knight. Which is par for the course- kind of result that you would expect. In the process, I found that the DD even without darkness talents, Tribals and the Dark barb- they are endlessly predictable.

The Defensive DD neutralises two of your troops. You can't do jack to them.

The Tribals are faster, tougher- couldn't even reach the shamans- almost full stack hits from the guardians make no impression on warlords et cetera.

But the Dark Barb takes the cake. A defensively oriented faction wipes out a third of a guardian stack with one hit.

And of course it is quite possible for elves, dwarves, mages to beat the knight if they play with a modicum of finesse.. but at least I put up a fight in those battles. I know that there are knights who will have a 100% win record, but still, I suppose they are very strong chars.
one with 15 from 15 at your level, then a pretty steep drop off

http://lgnd.ru/mt41/rating/lvl/16/r/1

They fought one shadow and one tamer DE and no tribals, though they did win of course
To beat defensive tribals , you need Destruction magic > Dark magic (mass disruption ray) > Good attack and initiative. As a knight , you need to catch warlord and minion as early as possible.
Having finished the tournament i was wondering what sort of medal I'd get, and it seems that for each faction and CL

(your win rate)/(best win rate) >= 0.9 for gold and >= 0.8 for silver.

For example best CL 17 necros got 15/16 wins = 93.75%, meaning that for silver you need 0.8*93.75 = 75% wins. For 75% total battles can be 15/0.75 = 20, so already 15/20 wins would get you silver.

Note that the number of players doesn't matter. Go ahead and correct me if I'm wrong with any of this :)
That is correct, if you look at the results for tribals at cl 18 for the last minor tournament then that was the case.

Gold reward is additional 16550 coins.
not really. The rewards for gold and silver cannot be compared between two factions.

For instance, check out the silver and gold rewards for tribals at your level, you will find that the difference isn't 16k :)
