I think the best strategy for DE is to split rogues and minos, so the less minos and rogues can take retal, then the others can attack,,, u know that Rogues are great and minos are so strong (a lot of HP), so i mean this is about how to play them well and maximize their capabilities ...

of course we split rogues, but it's not enough.
level1-4 DE are great.
but level 5 they are too weak.
i tried 2 builds at level5:
1 poisoner 15 rogues 7 minos 6 lizards
1 poisoner 7 rogues 13 minos 6 lizards
both builds are too weak
rogues are killed by ranged units before reaching ennemies troops.
lizard cavalry are very difficult to use because of their size.
they are large creatures, it means that a small stack (like 1 faerie) at a good emplacement can easily block them: in PvP if the oppent is strong enough, lizard will never be able to use their charge on strong stacks, or to reach ranged units: they will always be blocked and lose their turns to kill 1 faerie or 1 gargoyle.
others problems with lizards: they works realy badly with minos: lizards attacks a target, take retaliation, but their size prevent your slow minos to reach the same target.
and they have huge moving problems when you have natural obstacles on the battlefield (stones...)
large creature have lots of inconvenients, and only one advantage: you can use them to block enemies, to prevent them to reach your ranged units (like wolfriders with orcs, or griffins with bowmen)
but DE don't have ranged units, so large creature is useless for them, it's only a malus.
i really think lizard cavalry is underpowered.
if they were small sized creatures (like lizards cubs) it would be better.
at lv 5, use max lizard,max minos,4rogues and other for poisoners
4 rogues to block the way, cover lizard, take retal or destroy the wall
ur rogues will not die in 1 hero's strike
lizard extremely powerful in full-arts game,
where u have full adavantage of lizcharge

at lv 5 and 6 DE really underpowered
but they'll own again after lv 8
maybe not own, but balanced again, unlike when they r level 1-4.
i don't really know why, but from experience, other faction who attack DE with poisoners attack poison 1st (happen in all, and i mean all, of my tournament battles if i bring 8 poisoners). So bring poisoners only to absorb their 1st ranged turn, and magic sometimes. but it is enough to divert the enemy focus.
The MINOS, i think that should be ur best power, man I need to say that Minos could slay griffins (if they attack first with full numbers of stack) ... and the lizards they can slay the swords .. My swords ever slayed by only 6 lizards (6 vs 20) ... so, I think DE is the best in attack ... (knights are the best in defence)

Dark Elves are really weak due to their lack of troop count. There seems to be a trend: lvl 1-4 good, lvl 5-6 bad, lvl 7 and up good. They'll power up eventually.
Do not forget The HYDRAS ... they are really great .. especially in melee combats ... wow .. funtastic .. to slay HYDRAS ... i love doing it ...
pack attack + shrews morale and ini are deadly, i think
ha ha ha funny dark elf build is very hard ! 7 lvl dark elf no use shews is very little to kill :)
So the topic is about changing the faction raceskill `cause it`s too useless. Hey is it working anyway? :) Can someone show a warlog where a Mage with the same SP hit less than an DE ? Haven`t seen something like this :) You can say that DE has no racial ability just bonuses of it`s level.

About DE level tactics
Level 1 is the hardest :)
on lvl 3 take 11 Rogues and 13 Minos (us stack`s of 1 Rogue to take out retaliation of the enemy unit and Minos are real tanklike units). Make SP 1 and KN 2.

lvl 4. SP 2 KN 2 same tactis as on lvl 4. Keep using Spikes well.

lvl 5 take 6 Lizz - 13 Minos - 7 rogues (I don`t remember well the numbers). Anyway on this level you acheive some real magic (for noobz ^_^) and no one have the rezist yet. Make it 6 SP and 3 KN with the arts(hat, robe and staff) and . The real strategy begin`s here. DE Mage is not a defense based. He is placing crushing Magic blows and giving the final blow with minos or what he has. Never atack a full stack with DE. The retaliation is painfull. Better take out retaliation first. On perks Take Same with lvl 6.

LVL 7. The real meele based offence DE is developing on this lvl. If ya have some money buy the "Thieves' Set" take the Rally and your`e the best with the schrews on your side. :) This is pure evil, a devastating power. From 8 and till 10+ you can change the tactics from a Mage to Meele playa as you please or depending on which artifacts you can buy (the Mage Build is very expensive but the most powerful). Also high meele`s should check out the Mass Haste with Tactics perk on schrews. it`s amazing.

But ppl let`s be realistic. DE is one of the factions and can`t be the best. You can kill a Mage faction playa in a meele build and be crushed like a bug in a mage build (golems are evil). It`s a very special one. After you play a year or two with DE the other factions seem to you very easy to play. DE need some skill in controling the battlefield and knowing when to hit and when to take a hit. The main ideea about DE is that if a DE doesn`t make it on morale + ini + rally it has to make it on SP and Defence.
i use 6 liz 12 mino and 9 rogues- 4 go to block the way, and 1 stack 5 rogue attract enemy, and most of my enemies go kill 5 rogue and dyi with liz ^^

schrews do you mean shrews? We have to see the "original" version, and DE level 7 don't have shrews, they r lvl 8. of course they will be d best, if you use diamonds.
but i just want to know, can anyone tell me what is the best talent 4 level 7 DE?
what is better on pvp ? battle fury and offense with max mino and max liz ,10 rogues or leadership rally and 30 mino max liz and 16 rogues ?

i think we should have 1 more minos so the elves will need 31 more damage to destroy them before they reach..cause the minow will be killed to easy!
1 more minos, that's all i ask!

The DE tactics is hit and run mostly. :) So they are weak against hight ini and morale builds.
