my personal experience is that at level 12 DE has no chance against a full-art knight, whether DE wears thief arts or full arts. cavalry is amazing and escort will kill the shrews.

Cool. makes me even more determined to get there faster! I'm getting quite used to the hype surrounding Cavalry. I hear they're awesome compared to the other creatures in its Tier. Lol. Too bad I'll have to wait awhile more. Its impossible leveling up being a student with a national exam coming up XD

Just beat a DE earlier who has better stats than me in all dept except Morale, where we were even.

Just sharing so fellow knights don't get demoralized and think we knights are 'hopeless' once we run up against a human DE in an ambush. :p

If all conditions being even, ie, Shrews don't get luck/morale on first 1-2 turns etc, beating a DE (even with a wee bit more/better arts) in ambushes is not mission impossible.

PS: Not in anyway implying that the DE I met is not good, since he's a good player and a friend and we do our fair share of hunts together when possible.

Hi pals!
I've just reached level 5; read all this threads - because are so many I got disoriented. Please advise how my next conduct should be like:
- spending my +1 abilities point (got Att 4 and Def 2);
- can't recruit (no money to construct Farmer cabins) - how shall I use my 10 Griff, 28 SM, and 17 Bow (is this a good choice?).

max griffins then swords then bows and when i was lv5 i used escort
1366 - The stat you choose will greatly depend on your playing style, if you are a more offensive knight put it into attack, because your defense can always be increased with arts, (lot more arts to increase def than att). However, if you favor a more defensive style of play (like Antos) put it into defense.
- Get farmer cabins as quick as you can. 1368's advise is good, but you need farmer cabins, they will not only increase your farmers, but everything else too.
- talent, definitely escort at level 5.
lol just wanted to post this combat. This was my second battle against army of elves {1}. First battle i only took out 25 units (didnt try lol), unfortuanitly i dozed off for a 2 hour nap and then o no i have 20 minutes to finish lol needed to get it on the second try. Tbh i thought it was gg but escort was here to save the day :D

battle agains army are easy but you have 3 tryouts to do so it will be easy try knoking the arhers first
antos plays as knight again
angels, cavalry and royal griffins are very good against thief ambush

Nice way to ransack a DE ;)

I must say, at higher levels I'm sure Knights can hold their own with a DE, one factor being the cavalry giving us more mobility. But at low levels, its still much in favour of the DEs when it comes to both thieving and Pvp combat.

For TG, when faced with a DE player or caravan, I always need to split xbows into multiple stacks, and monks into 2 stacks of 5 each. Reason being, that if shrews were to have first turn attack, multiple xbows make it difficult to kill all of my range in first turn alone. It buys me some time to get swords up and running while monks and remaining bows and griff take out the last few shrews. Apparently, an escorted swords can hold its own against BOTH Hydras and Liz.

My point is, seems like through setup, we can gain an upper hand ONLY if we had more mobility, like how lv11 Knights do. Otherwise, its all up to luck and hope that some range units will be left to help out poor swordie when those shrews start running amok :)
By the way, has anyone seen this kind of DE caravan before??! It really scared the heck out of me when I saw it moments after my last post.

Hi, i'm lv 6 knight and i want to ask:

1. What is the best talent for knight lv.6 for Thiefing?
(Now im using basic fortune + escort.)
2. Should i pump moral or i go for luck for the best thiefing result?
3. What is the best troop setup n recruitment?

This is basically a reverse of Jedi-Knight's combat. :)

For the record I think that knights and DE are good rivals. Either side can easily win.

1) Hey ! you naughty Demon-cum-a-zillion-faction, why are u trying to do posing a DE win over a knight in the Knights thread? Go post in the DE thread! :p

2) Ermm... not really, technically and theoretically a 'reversal' of my example. - The DE has more enchanted arts on. You may say that's not crucial, but given the fact that the DE went 6 of the first 7 turns in that ambush, it's CRUCIAL. You try letting my Guards/Grif/Monks/Cav hit a DE army 6 outta the first 7 times, and I'll let the DE wear double the enchants I have on, and I'll still win easily. :)

A DE beating a knight is not a biggie, esp if wearing more arts/enchants, given the fact that a DE ALWAYS goes first (and 2nd, and 3rd, and 4th...) and probably 50% of it without retal (!?).

It's only when a knight (NOT referring to me) with lower stats all-round beats a DE with greater stats/enchants/initiative/speed etc that makes such victories sweet. :p

I do agree with your last sentence though, BUD. :)
for Jedi-Knight:
1.) I should post in the demon thread and recruit demons into the DE / knight folds, hehe. :)

2.) DE has slightly more enchants. Knight was using a nice 3x10% weapon. As for the turns... what do you expect? DE with thief set definitely would get to go first over a knight, haha. Why don't you say it's a bad example cause the guardians didn't hit the shrews first?

Anyway there's plenty of examples of defensive knights hunting and killing DE. That's probably what elenthil was referring to. The knight in my link was one of those anti-thief defensive knights. By the way the DE was me and the knight PM me about how badly I beat him.

Well, I've played DE and knights the most; faction 7 on both; and I've met DE and knights on the battlefield.
When I'm a knight, I think DE are tough.
When I'm a DE, I think knights are tough.
When I'm a demon, I think both knights and DE are tough. :)
Whoa, feels like a case of mistaken identities here. Heh

Well, my summary is, DEs are tough, Knights are tough. Who hits first, and who lasts the longest, generally wins the game.

On another note, I just went from full might to part magic knight. Results so far? I lost a thieft-hunting battle against DE, but creamed all hunts and mercs so far. Low attack is causing me some problems, since I took all 6 parameter points for my magic from my attack stat. Feels more like a half-hearted switch. Oh well :)

the reason that the knight lost is that the knight in the battle was not wearing full arts. his defense was only 18 or something.

there are two reasons why the knight must have high enough defense to beat a DE thief. one is to guarantee to have enough troops surviving DE's first round attack. another reason is to make escort work to kill the annoying shrews. usually only guardians are left at the end of battle. you want the guardians to survive long enough to have enough number of escort attacks.

there are some other useful strategies too. use the combination of griffin and cavalry to kill as many shrews as possible in the early battle. monk & xbow should attack shrew too if having a chance. don't attack hydra or mino in early battles. guardians could take them out easily. protect monks because monk's shot could kill many shrews. so sometimes it's useful to escort monks first rather than griffin, depending on the battle situation.
