Actually the knight was wearing full arts. He probably just didn't switch all his points from attack into defense.

The DE killed focused on the guardians rather than the monks because the DE knew that a large stack of escorted guardians in the end would win. Also as you can see for that particular battle xbows were dead and monks were unable to shoot in the first turn.

But I have to admit the knight would probably have done better if he switched his attack points into defense. Also the DE had 7 knight faction levels advantage over the knight.

I don't consider that a secret. I think it's a smart idea to switch factions to whatever seems tough to you.
1.) You can see the greener grass on the other side. :)
2.) Once you get some faction levels if you were to switch back to your original faction, then your switched faction won't be as tough anymore.

So now I no longer fear the power of knights and DE (as much).

er lol... the expression is "The grass is always greener on the other side"
and 7 faction levels is a huge advantage. The bonus the Knight missed on this 7 factions level is huge. The battle could have very well gone differently if the faction levels were the same regardless thier current artifact wear
Hmm Honestly DE always have troubles against Knights .. They are good against Barbs, and another attacking-style Factions .. :) but not defensive .. :)
Ok here i was ambushed by a DE, while i may not have played this very well it still shows how much more powerful DE are despite me having full art

indeed, it isnt easy to counter DE in ambush. the troop settle allow DE to reach any corner of battlefield in 1st move. hence, you lose even more troops in 1st move if compare with duel or gb

With the new so-called update in the thief map, will that troop advantage still favour DE? I'm not so sure what the update will bring, but I hope it benefits knights somehow. Hehe

umm apparently the updates make knights worse, the escort is weakened and defence talents cost increased. i wouldn' be expecting any more knights in the top 100 after that :S

it's bad news to all knight players
knight troops are slow so i think morale and defense are the standard combo talent for knights

besides, escort is real essential for our slow troops to fight back shrews and vams and other no retal fast killers

now we are left worse in ambush and pvp

we dont have best talent. different built called for different situation.

as for the nerved, i knew def talent point investment and escort will be tweaked before update come in. Arctic had told me about those tweak, i quite agree that def talent and escort will be slightly overpower at high lv. but nerving on battle dive is quite debatable, new battle dive will only deal 100% dmg; no extra bonus dmg.

we got simple example here, take a look on Antos combat log. you will surprise that his troops cant take much dmg while fight with all those def talent.

we have to spend more point in def talent but in return we will be allowed to recruit more bowmen/xbow later on. so, combine with training chamber, you will get even more sm/guardian.

for general nerve which affect knight - spells, holy and dark spell will be changed. we will not get any 'counter-spells' which was using rapid to boost the ini of the stack and remove delay in the same time. hence, magic knight will be more useful after update.

without the counter-spells, the effect of spell will be stack up. for example:

rapid and delay, targeted stack will get the effect of sum from rapid and delay.

- 20% rapid and 20% delay after update,you will get no boost if both spells cast on it.

- 40% rapid + 20% delay, you will get 20% boost.

- 20% rapid + 40% delay, you will get 20% delay.

so, spell power and talent mastery will be more worth to invest. with greater spell power, your spell will last longer until enemy spell expired OR with higher mastery allow your spell to take over the enemy spell effect.

SOMEHOW, from what i heard, holy spell effect will be boost. the effect of holy spells will be greater than dark spells even with same mastery lv. i guess that dark knight built will even no more popular later on.
if they increase the def talent how is any1 gonna get close to completeing the defensive wheel? i mean right now you can even get to the unlimited retal, and with the increase cost im sure even when they do have some increase for talent points you still probably wont be able to get that unlim retal.

As you can see my opponent gets so many turns more than me, and if this was a DE i'd stand no chance. We knights should be rewared with high defence in exchange for slow initiative and very slow speed.

And again, escort sends the knight back on the ATC every hit, so that in of itself is a negative for many of us, why nerf the damage?
it's good to hear about the magic update, it makes more sense like. and you can't be a magic knight and have escort at the same time, because you will never cast any spells XD.
It's no good to hear about magic update from one point of view: bye bye genies records.
As from escort, i would prefer increasing that with 1-2 talent points than to be 'decreased' at 100% dmg.
As what Pang has said, I feel there's some plus points and some deficits for us Knights. Boosting Holy magic is good, but if Darkness were to demise then the playable Poison Knight will no longer be seen, which is such a pity to those followers of FallenKnight and DomOfPain talents.

But if Guards numbers were to be boosted, thats a timely thing, considering if escorts damage will be reduced, we should get more troops to compensate it. Though its still sad to see our talents costing more when they are so vital to us.
