Author | Cheaters everywhere |
There are rules for transfers between multiple characters and there is another character who just gives and doesn't receive anything.
It looks suspicious enough to report it and have it checked. | And this would be the kind of reports that would overwhelm the Admin unnecessarily. If you're really concerned, I would say you can keep an eye on this player for further activities. Also, the right thing to do would be to give this player a gentle warning.
This kind of overzealous vigilance does as much damage to the image of the game as any cheating. This is a social game. Some of us come to play and make new friends. I found a few friends myself. And if my friends ever need financial assistance from me, I don't think I would hesitate to lend a hand. But now, I fear that such activities would trigger a cheat alert from you guys. | I don't think we need to go banning everyone who breathes wrong, but if your "friends" Geryon1 and Geryon2 did nothing but send you money, or joined combats or games and lost without taking a move, that is a bit removed from resources changing hands in social play. And that kind of thing happens more or less openly, one might hope the Admin would spare a moment to see it. | There are too many cheaters mostly because there aren't enough people with the power to do something about it in CaA.
There are also too many cheaters mostly because the people that read the Secretary messages aren't native English speakers, and since they haven't delegated their duties, that inbox must be miles long by now.
It is "unacceptable" in a perfect world, but the reality remains that there simply aren't enough resources to bring this game up to a "Satisfactory" level. I hope there is someday. | to Geryon:
In my eyes reporting someone who receives 7000 gold and artifacts of an equal value from a person who has 225 gold left is all but unnecessary, it is a clear violation of the rules and not a small one.
I think I'm even holding back and just report someone when I'm really sure there is a violation.
No one is going to stop you if you want to lend something or make a gift as long as you comply to the rules. The rules are there for a reason and all of them apply not just the convenient ones and they apply to all players whether they care or even read them or not.
By the way if you really think you can nudge people with questionable transfers in the right direction I can send you everyone I find first and let you have a try. | The rules are there for a reason, and I believe it's you who forgot the reason. Yes, they violate the letters of the rules, but not obviously the spirit. Like I said, they are both dirt poor. I can see the case of one of them lending some artifacts for the other to use. Maybe, maybe not. Again, a little suspicious, but nothing to go bonker on.
If you really think you need to report this, then you are wasting your and the Admins' time. There are bigger fish in the sea.
If you send a violator a warning, and he ignores you and continues, then by all means, report. But please don't create such a hostile game environment with your zeal.
I was a happy gamer, until I read many posts in this thread. Now, I feel like I must constantly look over my shoulder. It's you, not the cheaters, who have ruined this game for me.
It's only FAKE gold. | There are people who violate the both the letter and spirit of the rules most blatantly, Geryon. I don't think you have to look over your shoulder so much as be mindful of the simple and usually more or less sensible rules. | It's you, not the cheaters, who have ruined this game for me.
You obviously seem to miss the point. Geryon you dont have to look over any of your body parts, there are means to prevent people from being penalised without a reason. But 30x30= 900, number of unsolved CaA topics. Some of those threads are 10 pages long, If one thread contains only 1 real cheater, its 2 cheaters for 1 online person right now. | for Geryon:
I'm not sure how to translate this, but maybe it is "are you pulling my leg"?
That player is obviusly a cheater, he has three multi and he transfer all their money to the main character. Same name of two characters, no transfer reason, no payback, nothing. It's easy to distinguish between fair transfer and illegal transfer. Anyway, don't worry! There is a new rule and I will be punished if I have made a bad error! ;-)
Then if you are not able to understand why acting like that it's like giving a venom to the game, I'll try to explain it again...
1) We have rules, like every other games and even real life too. I'm not a monster because I report cheaters, they are the one who damage the game. Try to read the meaning of "omerta'" and "mafia". You'll se where you end thinking like you are doing.
2) Immagine to start the game today. Half the match you do, you'll face a CHEATER (no other term, a cheater!). He/she got better equipment, on a higher level even more guild points than you because of his equipment. Then you notice that very few cheaters are punished. It's easy to fall in error in a situation like that.
3) There is a fair way to get some gold if you need it: donate!! This is fair and a real help to the comunity. With donations the admins are able to maintain the server and to pay expences.
4) If there is an illegal way to make gold and it grow because of "omerta'" and other reasons, this situation, on a longer period, could evolve right to two possible solution: the adminns should be forced to close the game or to turn it into a not free game.
It's not hard to understand, isn't it?
Geryon, I've look your transfer log (like you could do with mine) and it's easy to say that you are ok ;-). Why you try to defend cheaters that are makeing damage even to you? I don't understand... | I was a happy gamer, until I read many posts in this thread. Now, I feel like I must constantly look over my shoulder. It's you, not the cheaters, who have ruined this game for me.
My and there I thought I was paranoid. I have no problem if someone beats me because he is better, but I have a problem when someone beats me because his artefacts and buildings are sponsored by some benefactor, especially if the player of this benefactor is not really giving up anything because it is a multi or he planned to quit playing anyway. If you want to have better equipment than your opponent work for it like everybody else. This is a competitive game and not the salvation army. | Are the penalties for cheating supposed to actually deter it, also? Now in the battles I see an obvious multi/financial assist cheater who was fined, but I'm not sure the fine was even for as much as the financial assist, and they continue to play the character with the advantages of having cheated to get there.
I can see where a fine would be good for someone who was just swearing in combat or something, to nudge them toward the right behavior, but shouldn't a character built up by cheating be blocked? | I have no problem if someone beats me because he is better, but I have a problem when someone beats me because his artefacts and buildings are sponsored by some benefactor, especially if the player of this benefactor is not really giving up anything because it is a multi or he planned to quit playing anyway.
I'm not defending cheaters but I'd feel like I'm the one cheating if I fight someone with inadequate equipment or undeveloped castle. XD | This is just disgusting. I like playing 3 vs. 3 PVPs and before I join a match I check out the players who have already joined. I don't want to face a cheater in battle because of the unfair advantage he/she has so I don't join.
The problem is that there are SO MANY cheaters it's hard to find a set of clean players to compete against! I would guess at least 35% of the players are cheating and I think that's a low number. It stinks. I would love to see admin block these accounts and the only way to unblock them is for the player to buy a certain amount of diamonds. This would weed out bad players quickly and also gather money for game improvements. Seriously, how many player do you see have bought diamonds? This game won't survive if people don't start helping out. Even the tournament should be a diamond charge to enter.I know free gaming is great but let's be realistic. How long can it survive if the money isn't coming in? OK, done my rant. | for Modi: Admins are getting money not only here but in ru., so the profit earned there is more than here | #52
That's how I feel too whenever I ambush players with inadequate arts. Fighting player victims is basically like a freebie for thieves even if the victims wear full arts. | @55: Although the increased "Ha, take that!" factor of the thief victim defeating the ambusher helps make up for the stacked odds. | That's how I feel too whenever I ambush players with inadequate arts. That's a fair point but also remember some people slow their play down so they can save for artifacts, while others advance more quickly with a minimal set of artifacts. There has got to be some reward for the effort of saving for that full set. And those that travel around unprotected or partially protected know the risks.
Although the increased "Ha, take that!" factor of the thief victim defeating the ambusher helps make up for the stacked odds.
I haven't been ambushed that often, and most of those have occurred to my secondary Barbarian character. I think I have almost always won when I have been ambushed. I even had one really sweet victory against an Elf who payed diamond upgrades, and who ambushed my Barbarians. It was a close call though.
Cheers | My first and last post here -
To all who have broken the rules and used or are using unfair means (no matter how irrelevant and silly you think the rules are), you are gaining an unfair advantage over others who play by the rules.
I know, you may say it's just a game, and not like you committed murder or something, but it speaks VOLUMES of your integrity and character.
If one can resort to breaking the rules just to gain an unfair advantage in a virtual online game, I can't imagine what they will resort to do likewise in the real world.
You can go console yurself that you'll only do it in a game, and not in real life, but you are deceiving yourself. If you break the rules just to gain an advantage, it's an inherent trait and part of a person's character. You can't differentiate between 1 sort of cheating to another.
Breaking the rules is breaking the rules. Cheating is cheating. No matter how you wanna look at it.
I can only speak for myself, but I would rather lose knowing I played fair, then win, knowing I didn't win in a fair manner.
Last word, one only resort to breaking the rules to gain an unfair advantage coz they know they are not as good (or as 'hard-working') as the other players.
* The above is just my personal opinion, and nothing is directed at anyone in particular. :) | I think we are going to have some fun soon, when the result of the survival tournament will be relased...
I'm ready to bet that the number of cheaters is so high that we'll see at least 1 cheater who will be rewarded into this tournament. This should be great! No punishment, but a reward for a victory gained with unfair advantage... Level 5 are the level to whom I'll keep a special eye on. | Level 5 are the level to whom I'll keep a special eye on.
Ermmm.. *stares blankly in confusion* Why specifically level 5? (??) |
