The Numbers Game

AuthorThe Numbers Game
The new people try to comunicate like in chat room but older players( and thats not a critict) have other concern. Why we dont have a real Forum or chat room for new people and the experience player can help them.

Other sugestion: a period of probation after may be 1 month the player have to be check and we can see if he make mistake by may be misunderstanding the rule our spies can do a positive work.

And Guys who read the instuctions we try and after we read.

Other sugestion for secondery if we register it give the same right (smith-enchantement-all think that can give money to lwm) more money more events.
I reckon we need 2 or 3 more Artics:D, perhaps he can take a couple of traineeships to take the weight off his shoulders and make this server not dependent of one man

The problem is the admins need to invest money to recruit programmers and artists to design the events/do all the debug and maintenance, so it's just the matter how much they care about this server.

There are hundreds of ways to increase the population here, but I think the admins (not talking about Arctic) just doesnt really care---in another words, they've already got great success in .ru, so if they REALLY care about this server, why not apply the same thing here?!

Sorry for being somewhat aggressive, but this is really what's in my mind.

I'm soory you are wrong..there's always somebody to help other new players

You might not be completely right there, my friend. :)

I have been summoned by our admins to do certain update work.
As before, it will be close to the current twin version on .ru, although not precisely same.

There was also a subsequent post by Arctic (yes, we all take note of every word you said, Arctic) saying that he could stay longer than he initially stated, but I can't seem to locate it now.

So the admins DO care, albeit now as much as .ru. But that may well change once this server starts living up to its potential.. :)

Ya I've read about this before, and I think this might be a good sign. Also that undead event and minor tournament is definitely a positive effect.

However when I talk about if the admins care or not, I'm talking about the whole history of this game---in this 2 yrs and 6 months, only 2 war events are hold here, and how many in .ru? dwarf war, kingdom war (which lasts pretty long), demon war (just hold recently) and many others...This looks to me like a "I don't care".

It's true that Arctic is summoned by the admins, but what were they doing since January? Well, maybe the just start to care now...? I would hope so, but cant persuade myself to believe this...

Anyway back to the topic, I think the best way to increase the population is by holding more events: wars are the most ideal ones, but mixed and minor tour would be good too.

This is a good thing to prevent level 5+ players from quitting but most of the "new" players in the undead war came from the russian server.

I guess many new potentiel players have a language problem. If a player doesn't have a good english he/she won't understand how to get new troops, how to fight or the most important thing in this game: How to gain gold.

Maybe a button to change the language at the character page would solve this. I guess here are many players who would help to translate the game.
i sugest to migrate this server to ru. and to make an option to choose language betveen ru and eng.
#29.

The idea is to bring/retain more players in this server. When this happens, there would probably be an increase in income for the game developers, so it's a win-win situation.

Merging both servers brings no 'real' addition income to the developers, and thus, is highly unlikely to happen, me thinks.
Well, i have a couple of videos on youtube with my referral link in the description.
So the people that use my link, have seen some gameplay before registering.
But still around 75% quits after 1 combat and another 15% quits at level 2.
Only very few players make it to lev 3 and higher.

So my guess is that leveling is too slow for the lowers levels and / or the might feel too repetitive, since everyone tells them they have to do hunts only else they get a weak character....
Hmm.. I think with the feedback so far, having regular events etc, seems to be a big draw to attract/keep newcomers.

It does make sense though. If .ru were to stop having events for say, a few months, betcha their average would probably drop too.

for Sven91:

Can you send me a link to the youtube video, if it's not all right to post it here?

I wanna see how 'attractive' that video is. :p
+I forgot to mention that sometimes in my pm or in QaH the question comes why they did not receive any extra troops while they did level up.

Lev3-> Lev4
Lev8-> Lev9
Lev12-> Lev13

Thats almost no change at all for most factions.
It might be a disappointment for some player that after finally reaching a new level, not getting any new troops.

for Jedi-Knight:
Search on youtube, they are not hard to find. (together they have around 33 000 views)
I think one of the most daunting "features" of the game for new players is the pacing at which it moves sometimes. Generally, players like to be regularly rewarded for their actions. Early on, the game moves fairly quickly, but once you reach levels 7 and beyond, the pace slows noticably. The waits until you level up to get rewarded for your efforts get longer. Once you reach level 10, not only does the pace slow, but the rewards seem to get less... rewarding. Level 11 while it's nice, is not nearly so great as level 12. Likewise, level 13 is nice, but 14 is MUCH better. The odd numbered levels add little except a few troops and some talent points.

Those who stick it out, get used to the pacing and are fine with it, but it can definitely be offputting to new players who are used to games that operate at a much faster pace. I think the pacing is also the least understood aspect of the game for newer players. How often are there questions from someone asking how to earn gold quickly? They have yet to realize that building a solid financial footing is nearly as important as gaining levels and that the two must go hand-in-hand. Many players get themselves in trouble by levelling too quickly and then finding they can no longer afford to battle at the same pace they once did... especially when AP requirements kick in. This leads them to do one of the following:

-Start trying roulette to earn enough to keep fighting at the same pace
-Fund their main with multis
-Slow their pace of battle

If they lose in roulette, as they inevitably will, then they either have to resort to cheating, or slow their pace... or leave the game.

This is an intricate, complex system and there isn't any easy answer. Perhaps creating some new, small rewards that kick in at certain XP points between levels and encourage players to stick it out through the long gaps between levels would be helpful.
the new player cant write in forum till level 3
3 videos of lwm on utube.
We blablabla and nothing never done
and .ru ............Sure they welcome everybody
Important place in this game is the Inquiery Room : https://www.lordswm.com/frames.php?room=0

When new players come in this room, the starting point of future players come from the answers given. Answers and way to explain those new players will give them pleasure to understand the game and of course "play". For many monthes i ve seen many news players starting from level 1 and now they are already level 8 or 9...

Important point, some are doing a great job there, and they are close the new players. Advises are good and rules explained.

https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1838991 <- as said here, it s an important place, so answers given are important.
Important place in this game is the Inquiry Room : https://www.lordswm.com/frames.php?room=0

Actually, I have never 'heard' of the existence of the Inquiry Room till I was of a 'high' level and have no use for it. There were so many things I didn't know about the game when I started, and kept coming to the forums to bombard the oldies here with my queries. Players like Pantheon, gurumao, takesister, straws etc, would probably remember me well from those days. :)

My point is, if the IR is really great for familiarizing and helping newcomers to the game, maybe more should be done to let the newbies know about that room.
Maybe an 'Offical' clan could be set up with members known as 'Helpers' or something.

Their duties would be to identify (by looking at Duel/GB/Battles page etc) new players of CL 1-3, and send them a PM with relevant and useful info. Something like,

"Hi,

Welcome to the game.

I'm a Helper. Here's a few really useful info and rules that will make your gaming experience a much better one. -

1. If you have any queries regarding the game, please go to the Inquiry Room : https://www.lordswm.com/frames.php?room=0 for assistance. There are many players there waiting to help you know the game better.

2. Here's a link to the General rules. Pleas take a few minutes to read it.
http//.....

3. Take special note of rule x.1, as breaking them can get your character blocked/fined.

4. Feel free to contact me or any of the Helpers found here - http//..., if you need to clarify anything.

From,
Helper Arcticula"

I believe this would be a great help for all newcomers, and besides preventing them from unknowingly breaking the rules by doing illegal transfers etc, it will almost certainly sustain their interest in the crucial initial period of playing the game, knowing help is not far away.
.. further to my suggestion in #38.

It's a concept based along the lines of "If the mountain won't come to Mohammed, then Mohammed must go to the mountain".

I just went to the Inquiry Room, and the lowest level I see there is a lvl 8, and most of them are 'oldies' waiting for some newcomers to ask them for help. As someone from another post had mentioned - Why just wait? Why not be a little more pro-active and seek out those that might need help?

If we can prevent 1-2 newcomers from getting block for doing something illegal, sustaining their interest per day, we would have another 100 regular active players every few months. Every little bit helps, and we should try to attract/keep new memebers from all angles.
#39

Very nice idea, but that's way too much work to do...

and I think we do not have problem encourage people to reach level 5 because as what I see there's plenty level 3-4 players all the time even though it only takes like several days to level up. However how to prevent people from quitting after level 6, 7 or so is very important.

Another possible way is to reduce the price of TG invitation by...probably half. I believe there will be way more people buy it if the price is only like 40 euro. 80 euro sounds scary but 40 is much better. Unlike the unique character image, the admin lose NOTHING by giving one more player a TGI, and more importantly it will SAVE one player from quitting since after level 8 life will become extremely boring without TG and people would quit because they have nothing to do.
