What're the tactics knights are using for the survival tourny?

I'm lvl8 and for my first attempt i tried a magic build and got totally wiped out at wave 10. I changed to a might build and it was much easier, managed to get to wave 11 but the renegade magicians wiped out my remaining swords like they were nothing... >.< Does anyone have any idea on how to get by those magi?

buddy, magic built will never work in survival tour. it wasnt like you have to wipe a limited amount of opponent asap.

remember, you have unlimited opponents to kill. you need to keep your troops alive as much as possible to next wave.

Yea that might work if i had any decent ini troops by wave 11. My griffs and monks got taken out by the high ini creatures from wave 10. And is it worth it to shuffle the xbows into a corner to protect them?

That's no problem with swords, but a single spell from the magi kills 10-11 swords in one hit >.<
for SwitchBlad3 - the same thing happened to me in the tourny. I did manage to kill one stack of the magis in wave 11 by waiting in wave 10 to make sure my swords hit first - they would have to be in position in front of your hero to be able to hit first, mind you.

The main problem i had was that swords were too slowwwwwwwwww to walk to the next stack before they were wiped out! My other problem is that i'm fighting without xbows cos i just got to level 8 and can't afford them!

On the topic of xbows (for when i finally get them) - how should they be used differently from normal bows? I have noticed alot of higher level players maxing on xbows rather than swords - why is that?

read the abilities and stats on xbow carefully.

1st of all, you should notice that 'volley' is missing but replace with 'aimed shot'. for the detail of aimed shot, read the manual. but, in short words, it allow xbow to hurt target with ignore target's def within 3 tiles. an excellent ability to be a 'high def killing machine'.

2nd, you will found out the dmg gap of xbow had been increased. from certain extend, yes, xbow max dmg output had been doubled. but, on other words, big dmg gap = unstable dmg output.

3rd, xbow has better hp and def now. but, it doesnt mean they will survive longer in pvp. remember, bowmen die on low initiative; it still same for xbow. the extra def and hp will only allow them die 'not-so-fast' LOL xbow has less initiative than bowmen.

4th, with the aid of holy magic guild and expert holy talent (ignore this point if you are might built), xbow potential can be maximized. hence, they can deal fancy dmg with stable output in both pvp and non-pvp.

the tactic of using xbow is same with bowmen, you will corner it with meat shield as wall to protect them in most cases. almost all high level knight hunt records were made with maximum xbow recruit.

as for the magic built question, pls refer to page 65 in this topic. visit those links and read the contents; it should answer most of your magic built problem.
i'm still confused about xbow's aimed shot range, which one is correct? 1st or 2nd area?

a little question too... almost, or maybe all the knights 1st place survival tourney use talent battle fury + leadership. are they the best talent in survival tourney lv8?

I use basic offence + battle fury + morale and it works pretty well for me :) Esp changing my talent to morale made a massive difference in my score this tournament - the extra turns you get are great

I think i'll try the rourny one last time. Which setup would be better:

5 morale, 1 luck
3 morale, 3 luck

With 5 morale i think i can get a shot or two at those magi but the decrease in luck may be disadvantageous.
well i played with 5 morale, 1 luck - i found that luck is unpredictable - killing stacks before you want them dead, giving luck to 1 recruit etc.

But you choose what best suits you - and good luck! :)

umm... anyone knows what are the differences between cold blade and basic-advanced-expert offense? i don't get any extra 10% Water elemental damage... what's that supposed to mean? can anyone explain the damage calculation?

is that also has effect on shooter? are xbows get increased damage when using that?
cold blade bonus apply to all units in troops; while offense mastery bonus dmg only apply to melee unit.

about the resistance, the only way to resist the offense bonus dmg is your defense mastery under defense talent; while cold blade dmg can be resist by any modification on element enhanced arts, magic shield, magic proof and magic resist.
umm... i don't get it, sorry...
so if i use cold blade, my attack will turn into water elementals that can only be resist by just modification arts? so it just like to ignore enemy's def???
no... cold blade only give 10% bonus dmg as water element.

take example,

your xbow deal 100 dmg. with cold blade, it will deal 110 dmg show in battle chat such as:

crossbowmen deal 110 damage to xxxx.

it NEVER show as:

crossbowmen deal 100 physical damage to xxxx.
crossbowmen deal extra 10 water element damage to xxxx.

so, if target has 20% water resist, your xbow will deal 100 dmg + 8 water based dmg.

cold blade bonus dmg also apply to hero attack. although hero physical attack cant be resist by target def, but element base dmg can be resisted.
it NEVER show as:

eh! really?? i never know that, but for me, it just the same! my damage is still 15-21! what's going on?

well, cold blade in hero is hard to find the difference in most case.

take your case as example, hero dmg 15-21, so even 10% is just 1.5 - 2.1, it is almost 2 dmg after round up or down.

so, only if your hero can deal atleast 20-21 dmg, then you will see your hero dmg go to 22-23 which is more than your base dmg.
