Bowmen didn't kill you, the rock on 10:6 tile did. That was horrible luck. Also, you should have used Curse more often...

i'll bring only 5 lizzards, and move them forward so bowmen will kill lizard and not my 1 shrew. the 1-shrew will be quite useful to block bowmen. 33 mino do more damages and also could serve as meat shield to hydra.
i killed 372 elven bowmen at lv 9

for xordax: You should bring max rogues, they can do more damages .. :) Better stay at might-DE .. :) Take retal first with rogues, no poisoner I think ... :) bring max lizards is a good tactic .. give them room for charging .. :)

Mmh - I am almost to afraid to ask but I am struggling with a White Hunt at lvl 7 DE.
White seems to suggest that most Win against this but I just can't see how.

I am fighting 370 Demons.
I use max Rogue and split troops to take Retaliation but I can only do that 5 times until I run out of troops.

Can it be that the White Hunt

I can win hunts indicated as Red sometimes and often loose hunts indicated as White like against slow units suchs as Swords or Zombies.

Or is there a secret strategy :)

I am a DE.I was going through this DE section and saw that there is a discussion about"take retals for lizards".They were discussing that poisoners take retals or rogues take retal better.
Can anybody tell me what does this phrase mean "take retals for lizards" and how it works?

split rogues, take the retal, bring RALLY, use luck and morale .. also .. try to run and run .. but do not attack till u sure that when u attack with shrews, they do not get killed ... :)

at the end u just have to run and run, keep shooting with hero .. :)

I got like that .. too at level 6 and 7 .. but I could pass them .. :)

or if u not sure can win by urself, then ask for help .. :)

Lizards, being large and have relatively low HP are extremely vulnerable, may sometimes need to attack a large enemy stack to deal large damage. But, the retaliation from the enemy stack may be too strong for the lizards.

Therefore, to avoid losing too much lizards from the "retal", we often send a small stack of poisoner or rogue to take the retaliation from the enemy stack first, before the lizards charge in.

Best unit a DE can use as a retal taker is poisoners, IMO. Due to a slightly higher initiative than lizards, they can move before lizards and the lizards can attack shortly after that.

hunt difficulty indicator is set based on the top hunter record of your faction and level

and regarding your white hunt, they set good record with shrews

"take retals for lizards" essentialy means taking the retaliation strike from the enemy stack. All stacks of unit hit gets to retaliate against the enemy attacking it once, unless the attacker or the attacked has abilities that states otherwise (e.g. shrews no retaliation, griffon's unlimited retaliation). Ranged attacks can't be retaliated, unless we're talking about succubi...

Anyway back to your more specified question, as mentioned in this forums, poisoners have a higher initiative than lizards, therefore they get to move before them . This means that I can say,use my single poisoner melee attack a swordsmen and take its retaliation. Having used up its retaliation attack, my lizards can attack that stack of swordsmen w/o them hitting back.
Usually they use shrews to break records, for them who not use shrews, I suggest to bring more attack, and enchanted weapons, then at the 1 - 2 first turns u can kill most of them ... :)
Nice Tips here - seems I can expect winning hunts anymore with min arts.
