What is the best recruitment for lvl 5 DE, with and without poisoners?
for xordax:
max minos and lizards, then assassins (DE-mage).
For DE-warrior/hunter - max lizards and rogues, 1 ass. and several minos. Max minos against mercenary warriors/steel golems/griffins.
shrew r very usefull than the other monster!!!
for xordax: I think if u wanna be a mage-DE, rogues are still very much useful .. if u not with them at level 5 - 7 .. u lost some of ur best troops .. they are the best at ur side I think .. still bring them but max lizards then minos first .. leave poisoners behind ..

same with might-DE ..

assassins can poison enemies' archers. More than that, common HP of ass' stack > rogues' stack, for mage number of HP is very important. Rogues die first and may hit 0 damage.
it depends a lot of ennemies you are facing.
for ranged units: minos, poisoners
for melee: rogues

Assassins are very good melee unit =)
poisoners are too weak.
2-4 damages, 12 intit, nearly useless poison
rogues have 5-7 damages, 14 init, strike and return, it's a lot better.
and max number of poisoners is smaller than max number of rogues.

poisoners are good in small numbers, to take retals for lizards.
they are usefull in big number in PvM to buy time for your main stacks (IA shooters targets poisoners first, allowing your minos and lizards to reach before being hit)
in both case, poisoners themseves deals very few damages, their utility is to sacrifice themselves in order to help your other stacks.
Should I upgrade bandits to poisoners then?
poisoners are very useful, buy them if you can.
they don't deal high damages, but they helps a lot your other units.
poisoners esp useful for retal taking for liz, due to its higher init.

Bandits have 10 initiative and poisoners have 12 initiave.
That's why poisoners are used to take retaliation because liard cavalry has 11 initiative. More than bandits, less than poisoners.

Hmm, so should I max rogues or poisoners :( ? What are the differences between the strategies?

Also, when you guys say use poisoners to take retal, does that mean I charge the poisoners up? If that is the case, why is it that I neeed to max poisoners?

I think they mean max poisoners with a magic build (which you are) and use poisoner to take retal if you're a might build.
Even if you max poisoners, doesn't mean you can't put one into a stack by itself and use that to take retal.
Rogues aren't so good against elves because they get targeted first (usually) and since rogues have low defense and relatively low health, they die quick.
Minotaurs are better against elves in my opinion although they are quite slow...
Umm... with the battle, you didn't do too bad, although I'm not very experienced with pvp.
Hmm, I think I will go with a magic build.

Just to confirm, if I am using a magic build, I should max lizards and minotaurs first, then poisoners and leave myself with 4 rogues, rit?

Also, I am still not very sure what I should do with my poisoners. Take retal or shoot?

Maybe I can look at a magic DE somewhere near my lvl and take a look? Any suggestions?
I can't give much advice since I've been might from level one...

Yeah go look at people who use magic build and see how they recruit.
i think you should max poisoners and use them in 1 Stack to maximize poison effect. This can be really dangerous for enemies low-hp-archer or for any enemy troop with high ini (the higher the ini -> the more often poison will trigger) such as rogues/shrews
shoot at one target after another, don't waste poison by shooting a target twice before poisoning is over
use some few rogues (about 4) to take retal, try not to place them in a way an earth spike could kill them all
and let your leader do the damage :)
