80: but fireball dmg really different from mass poison
it has instant effect, so will reduce enemy firepower as fast as u hit them by magic, instead of waiting for 1-2 turn first

i ever seen player at .ru play as magic DE during blindfold turneys, but i cant find him again - because i cant read his name in russian...
What is a good talent for level 5 ?? then what good arts for mercenary and huntings ?? man I am sick coz the first 2 combats of level 5 got lost .. hehe ..

I would like some tips on level 7 might build if possible, such as what is better, battle fury or rally, as well as how to split rogues etc.
PS: Intending to start doing mercenary quests more than PVPs
can anyone suggest mercenary quests which i should be doing, and which ones i should steer clear of (Been having a hard time with magi and vanguard of necromancers thus far as dark elf)
i suggest you to use potion of oblivion and magic build if you want to play only merc quests.

magic build worked very well for me at levels 5-6, and it seems to be still effective at level7.
i never tried might build, but i think shooters are a very big problem for you. with magic build you have eathern spikes to kill splitted magis, magic arrows to kill elven bowmen...


for your talents: rally is better than battle fury (no matter if you use might or magic build).
your units are harder to kill, have better morale, and deals more damages (a single unit deals less damages, but you have more units, and the total ammount of damages dealt is bigger)

exemple: your rogues.
24 with battle fury, 32 with rally.
now look at damages dealt by your rogues (before attack/defense modifications)

battle fury: 24* (6to8) *1.1 =158.4 to 211.2, with 10% chances of morale.
rally: 32*(5to7) =160 to 224, with 20% chances of morale.

now let's say 10 of your rogues are killed by your oppent's shooters.
with battle fury:
14 rogues left, damages dealt= 14*(6to8)*1.1 =92.4 to 123.2
with rally:
22 rogues left, damages dealt= 22*(5to7) =110 to 154

from the beginning of the fight, your troops deal better damages with rally.
and the difference increase when some of your creatures dies.
i am level 5. i was wondering which talent to use. im currently using basic erudtion.
Kasim: basic erudition is good for magic build (+1 spell power)
but it's bad for you because you use might build.
basic erudition gives you only +1 attack, it worth +3.5% damages.
you should use basic offense instead: +10% damages.

i can explain in an other message why +1 attack=3.5% damages (and not +5%) if you want.
87: but i think basic luck better than basic off

basic luck: 10% chances of dealing +100% damages
basic offense: 100% chances of dealing +10% damages
10 attacks with basic damages 100:
basic luck: 9*100+1*200= 1100
basic offense: 10*110 =1100

it's hard to decide which is better
i'd choose offense because i don't like the random factor of basic luck (how many times my stacks of 1 poisoner had luck and deals 2 damages instead of 1, or my main stack of rogues deals 400 damages instead of 200 to an ennemy unit with 30 HP left...)

and basic offense is better if you use amulet of luck:
basic luck+ amulet: 20% chances of +100% damages.
basic offense + amulet: 90% chances of +10% damages, 10% chances of +120% damages
10 attacks with basic damages 100:
basic luck+amulet of luck: 8*100+2*200= 1200
basic offense+amulet of luck: 9*110+1*220 =1210

very small difference, but basic offense is better :P
You really can't compare the two like that; a lucky hit on a dangerous stack can be so much more worthwhile then the overall 10% extra damage you do, but like you said a lucky hit with one of your weaker/on a stack is doesn't matter if you do 100 or 200 damage is worth nearly nothing.
Luck can turn a lost battle into a win, but, like the name suggests you need to be lucky for that. While with basic offence you deal more constant damage, but lost battles are lost no matter what happens (unless your opponent makes mistakes)
ok for some very hard battles, luck is the only way to win.
but for some other battles, a little bit easier, you could have won by using basic offense, and you lose because you took basic luck instead (and luck didn't triggered when you needed it)

basic luck can turn lost battles into victories, but it can turn won battles into defeats too.

it's not easy to say wich is better, it's up to everyone to choose between luck and offense (and maybe leadership?)

Hi, I have problems with DE, is that the right way to be a mage-DE at level 5 - 7 ?? how many mana I should have at level 5 and spell power ?? is that right too with Basic Chaos Magic ??

I mean spell and knowledge without arts just primary skills .. thx a lot ^^

I had an earth modification damages 2%, but nothing happened with my earthen spike, just normal damages, also my direct damages .. still normal .. does the earth modification gives a better damages or not or how it works ?? thx a lot for the answer ..

^^ To increase magic damage u need arts that enchanted by a jewelcrafter (cloak or necklace or ring), not by weaponsmith.

But what about the talents ?? basic sorcery, or what is the best at Level 5 ?? honestly I do not really master the DE ..

for Randy: basic erudition, and take +1 spell power with the additional skill point.

i think lvl 5-7 is the rite time to be magical de .. when u have shrews and some gold .. try get magic arts and put all the skill on atk / have some def arts too . if u got no arts it will be like this atk > 5 def > 3 .. be sure u hunt too
