Yes and no.
Anybody can be whatever they want, I'm not a magistrate to judge anyways.
But once one person starts a argumentation which will lead to different point of views answers, this person will have two options left.
1 - Answer those argumentations with a better one, with reasoning and logic, proving to have a better solution about the particular subject.
2 - If somehow there's no better answer, then the best thing to do is just do nothing, pause to reflect about the subject, learn a different point of view, and grow with different prospects.
The classical tactic of pidgeon's chess argumentation, is nothing more than senseless and pointless behavior, that will not contribute to anyone nor anything. I see no point to endorse this anywhere.
As long anybody open a debate, must be open to counter argumentations and face it, otherwise will be the same than make a crime and want to not be punished of it, or perhaps want to grab neighboor's house only because this person just wanted it.
This is not how the world's works, there's a world called "no" on dictionary for a good reason.

I have been frustated with the selection process which favours cousins ( Eg C__ and C__ D__) and much more.
There is no favouritism going on in the selection process. This is the same discussion as has gone on in the past. I was appointed to become a sage by Arctic - not by Ed. Over time we have become friends, as you would with your colleagues when you are required to hold discussions with them on a frequent basis. Classic Dyna and I are not real cousins, I just establish relationships with players that are meaningful to me in the game. We have been playing since 2008 and have known each other since then. He too was appointed by Arctic a long time ago.
In terms of the selection process itself: It differs for each official clan and the reasons for the selection differ each time. Take this for example;

I had to recruit players to become chat moderators. I wanted 3 or so moderators mainly to cover a specific time-zone that was lacking. I received 36 applications. Now there is a possibility that 35 applicants were better than you were. But the reality is that only 3 applicants need to be better than you were. Each of the three times you applied, you can be guaranteed that there were a large number of applicants. I know that you think you may have been the "best" applicant at the time, but with that number of applications anyone could have been a "better" applicant.
A number of factors are taken into consideration. Age, ban history, maturity, activity, (level as a reflector of activity), time-zone, how well you speak English and so on. You can yell as much as you like about not being accepted when you believed you were the "perfect" applicant, but the reality is you are not the only one who was rejected and the staff member ultimately didn't see the same way as you did. |
I don't think that I should be writing this, because I never wanted to be a mod... but as a player I need to say something.
1) I agree with Caleb2060 about that this topic is about "people who wanted to be mods" vs "mods" and I don't think this is going to end well... I hope I'm wrong, and we can get a good conclusion!
2) I had my own problem with a mod once; Arcadine... But we talked about it, and that's it! now we play together and we have no problems! That's how people works his differences: talking with respect for each other.
3) I know some mods by playing togheter and I'm plenty sure that they are doing their best. From my perspective it is a good job. Maybe at some hours the activity is low.
4) Rules can be changed, and if community can take this responsability, we should change them! Even constitution is changed from time to time! :p

What do you mean he closed other's topic ? Those topics are not closed, they are obsolete. A topic will go obselete in the trade forums automatically after a couple of days if nobody posts in them. That has nothing to do with a moderator's actions. STB just keeps revisiting his topic and stopping it from going obselete. |
Also, note the local rules of the trade forum;
3.2. Bumping any thread is allowed as often as once per hour. More frequent bumping will lead to bans of people guilty of violation.

he is a straight forward, un-biased person, might not reply your mail. but will check and take action accordingly.
after reading some comments, i feel like many of you still carry the old encounters with mods. its hard to forget. but lets try to forgive and forget and move on for the sake of community and ourselves. |
for Angel of Death: Dude from reading all your posts I come to understand that you want me to explain the reason I have created this thread and what it is goin the change ? Nowadays there are too much cold-wars between the players, Mods and admins, I guess creating such a thread would help the players to bring it front and discuss about it to get a good understanding between themselves ( already mentioned in post 61)

Already stated that what you have said is wrong. Apart from that, how do you have the right to talk about STB and other mods when you yourself don't even receive mails from people of my level or lower!

This discussion has evolved to cover various subjects but ... the reason I have created this thread and what it is goin the change ? Nowadays there are too much cold-wars between the players, Mods and admins I think it is quite clear from this thread that the majority would not agree with this statement.
As a moderator I get a lot of support from the community and know that none of us (mods) feel there is a cold war going on.
If you personally want to be at war with us then that's fine but don't be surprised if we don't join in.
It IS good to see the forums a bit more active though, regardless of the reasons ;) |
