to shebali:

thanks for pointing that out! could have led to misinterpretation of the actual situation!

to 220:

well split up bowman, to 4-5 stacks. let the elven bowman waste their shots on your archers. meanwhile u kill their low-life (pun intended again haha) elven bowman with your archers. your archers are likely to outlive theirs as long as you split them into at least 4-5 stacks.

then wait for his forest keepers to come. your swordsman will prevail as well. make sure your swordsman deliver the first hit, so wait if necessary.

good luck :)
correction for the following sentence:

"then wait for his forest keepers to come. your swordsman will prevail as well. make sure your swordsman deliver the first hit, so wait if necessary."

what i meant was while shooting his elven bowman with your own archers, meanwhile your swordsman should wait for his FKs to come. and i must emphasise that, you really need to make sure you deliver the first hit. its always an advantage in any melee fights.

oh and dont bother buying initiative boosting arts when dealing with elves. they will definitely out run us. we are laded with heavy armour lol.
of course 6 speed unit will land the hit first against 4 speed creatures

No chance to get 1st hit with swords
#223 a large part of the strategy of battles (especially pvp) is getting in the first hit. It is possible and not that difficult to get first hit with swords. (especially if your opponent rushes you). First, do not move forward right away. Wait until the opposition is within striking distance to move. Keep your swords out of striking distance of the opponent. Through strategy you can make them bring their troops close enough to attack.

PvP combats are often won based solely on who gets the first attack in. Just use some strategy and you will be able to it in most instances. (Excluding moral bonuses of course, they mess things up sometimes)
no your not entirely correct. its about tactics and where you place your swordsman. in short because swordsman are slow, you should not rush them forward when playing against elves. you should wait for them to come to you.

need not be afraid if their bowman attack you, cause either way, be it their bowman shooting at your swordsman or archers, you will still win.

its tried and tested alot of times by myself :)

its something like, knights having an advantage over the elf faction at the same current level where theres only access to 3 units for both factions.
my 225 message was referring to 223, not 224 :)

yes and i am sure most of us here will agree totally with 224
224+225
I must agree with 223. The keepers have higher initiative and speed than swords, so they just have to stay out of the range of the swords until they can get their hit in (morale ignored).
221 :

Won't Elven Bowmen totally dominate my Bowmen? They have more hp, a lot more damage and more initiative.
228

that's why you split bowmen, and hope some stack will survive and get a chance to shoot. in PvP battles like 3vs3, knight's bowmen aren't the first wave targets, and many of them will survive several rounds.

swordsman should be kept in a large stack, so fast and low defense units like forest keeper won't attack swordsman fearing of the retaliation. Actually, if your defense is high enough, swordsman could totally take the first hit from forest keepers and then kill them later.
229 : Great point about Swordsmen retals. Thanks!
from what i see most of you are still afraid of elven bowman.

well i am sharing my experience with all knights here that, you dont have to be. from my own personal experience, i've always emerged victorious in more than 90% of the battles with elves. and alot of times with 2-3 stacks of archers still surviving.

now i think most of us here are initially afraid to split our already weak and slow archers. well dont be! especially against elven bowman. firstly, their hp is low. although their attack is strong, if you split your archers into 5 stacks like what i always do, they can only kill one stack of our archers at a time.

at level 4 elves start with around 11 elven bowman. using my strategy of splitting archers into stacks of 5, along with hero focusing attacks on elven bowman, by turn 2, the elven bowman are only left with 6-8, and i'll still have at least 3-4 stacks remaining.

by turn 3, elven bowman will be pretty much useless already when they are only left with around 4-5.

by the end of turn 4, they will have 2,3 at most. pretty much useless if u ask me.

meanwhile while all the arrows are flying from east to west and vice-versa, your swordsman should sit tight, defend/wait and wait for FKs to come to you. they will, cause they know that as the arrow fight goes on, they will be at a disadvantage. they eventually will, if you all follow my plan closely. waiting for the right moment to deliver the first blow with your swordsman on the FKs is good, but not essentially important. if thats not possible, dont fret. your swordsman's strength in numbers in a single stack, along with FKs' low hp, will make up for it. your swordsman will eventually own FKs. trust me.

anyway with stacks of your own units dying, your swordsman will only get angry and become stronger due to the rage ability. each stack that dies add a +1 attack to them.

my build at level 4 is 3 farmers, 20 archers, 23 swordsman. with training chambers and farmer huts built. even if the training chambers arent built, i think my plan will still work, cause its only a difference of 1 or 2 swordsman.

lets say if the elven bowman target your swordsman instead of your archers right from the beginning. no fear. it actually do you more good than harm :) this means u have more archers to kill their low hp elven bowman. the range penalty, along with your swordsman's large shield ability, will ensure that your swordsman suffer minimal damage from elven bowman. a stack of 23 swordsman VS a stack of 17 FKs. i'll definitely put my money on swordsman :)

i usually end off the battle with around 13 swordsman remaining and about 1-2 stacks of 4 archers. quite alot of troops left eh? haha.

trust me. elves are nothing when played correctly :)
xiaosa, that is a brilliant strategy! makes me really want to go challenge an Elf right now to try it out!! :)

large shield + long range penalty + defend (adds 30% to def right?) = Swordsmen take very little damage from Elven Bowmen?
What about vs a Dark Elf that max Minos and put the rest into Rogues?

My guess is to target the Rogues with Bowmen. In this case, splitting Bowmen too much might not be good right? Rogues has incredible initiative + speed + range and can hit our Bowmen stacks very fast. Plus they have Earthen Spike which means we can't shield the Bowmen with Farmers to buy time. Any ideas?

(xiaosa : i saw one of your battle where you lost badly against a DE. :( )
eleves r easy....for knights lvl 7 onwards..need strategy for lvl 6...lvl 8 piece of cake ...monks kill 8-9 elven crosses , i mean efk is dead meat.... all of a sudden nothing is left ;p....
eleves r easy....for knights lvl 7 onwards..
r u sure?
sprites own ur swords
elven and druid kill ur bowmen/griffin fast
232: yes swordsman take very little dmg from ranged units.

233:
lol. aw. shamful yea.

rebeccaCovenant, i havent figured a way out to defeat dark elves. i think they are simply too strong and fast for knights at level 4. when i get griffins then i'll see what i can do :)

perhaps someone here who found out a way to defeat DEs at low level can share with us his/her experience.

oh i have a question for higher level knights. i am reaching level 5 soon. should i start to put points in knowledge and spell power? i have been totally focusing on attack. if not when should we start adding points in magic to be more effective and why?

thanks in advance :)
and rebeccaCovenant,

did u manage win any elves out there with my strategy?

best of luck for all low level knights! :)

cheers

Being a lvl 5 does help against rogues, but if you focus on your sword getting the first hit on minos then you should be set and use ranged units against the rogue. remember they would have very little damaging ranged units so there isn't much they could do to you... take advantage of that.
guys. other than when is the appropriate level to add knowledge and spellpoints, i have another question.

with regards to the 3% protection, how does it work? does it mean if i can get one faction level from every other faction, i can get a 3% damage protection from that faction? just one faction level will do? and i will suppose 3% is the maximum protection from any faction yeah?

thanks in advance :)
In Which Faction do Knights are Strong ?
