AuthorThief/Thieving Topic
Anything regarding Thieving or Thieves may be discussed here .

Created to form a FAQ for all those who keep asking for renting TGI , thieving advice etc .

- Best location for thieving may be East Bay - Seraph;s Tears for a few days , as more and more people keep traveling there for text quests !

Obsolete.
The link: https://www.lordswm.com/forum_messages.php?tid=1847051
is an outdated source. To avoid archaeology this has been reopened.

However, there is already an entire forum dedicated to renting TGI's. Such conversations should be brought there and will be deleted here.

Soon to be best anti-thieving location. :)
East Bay - Seraph's

Well acc. to my survey , even level 11 players are getting there ambushes in 4-5 minutes there , awesome place for someone wanting ambushes !

Or rather wanting to hunt down those thieves ;)
In your opinion guys, what is the minimum faction skill level required for a knight to hunt thieves in full arts ?

Thks
for JoseyWales:
Well, if you want to win a good majority of the time, then I would suggest faction level 8 for your combat level. You could skim by with faction level 6-7 if you're just focused into hunting DE and demons since you have faction levels in those.

But if you're satisfied with something like 50% win rate, then you can go with faction level 4-5.
Soon to be best anti-thieving location. :)

already has :p
for JoseyWales:

The current distribution at level 12: 12 knights, 6 necros, 5 wizards, 9 elves, 12 barbs, 30 DEs, 8 demons.

Seeing that you have quite some protection against the "good thieving factions", I think your low knight faction level won't be a big problem. Using good arts (some enchants never hurt) and appropriate tactics, you can become a succesful thief hunter. Even if you lose combats at the beginning, you will get good fsp for them, making you even stronger.

But that's just my opinion.
uhh should i wear full arts in thieving? and i really hate knight caravans that have heaps of monks lol

If you have rented a TGI and racing against time, go full arts. Steel set + amulet + wind cape is plenty good actually for most caravans.

After getting to TG 2,going full arts is completely up to you, i'd suggest min AP (yes you will lose a lot) to keep the caravan size at a bite-sized level.

If you have got a target to achieve or want to do quick thieving , otherwise fight in min arts until your caravans become easy enough to beat .

Caravan strength decreases by 3-4 % each time you get defeated by it !

knight caravans that have heaps of monks lol
Na place a block with wolfs on them , the farmers themselves are fragile !
i use min AP for thieving.

in my opinion, arts are waste of money for thieving and it's better to save them for important battles (hard merc quests and hunt records)

at the short run arts may help you to win your ambushes, they can be usefull if you need fast victories (to reach TG2 as soon as possible for exemple).
but at the long run arts will not help you to increase your win/loss ratio in ambushes.

every time you defeat a caravan, it becomes stronger, every time you lose it becomes weaker.
at the end, no matter wich arts you use, caravans will have nearly the same strenght than you.

for exemple a player using min AP will fight against caravans of 3*12 monks, a player with medium artifacts will fight caravans of 3*20 monks, a player with full enchanted arts will fight caravans of 3*40 monks...
they will all have the same win/loss ratio, but the first one will spend less than 200 gold per battle, and the last one will use thousands of gold per battle.
@Karsot - i couldn't have put it better myself :)
I have been min AP thieving since TG2 and I can affirm that min AP thieving ftw!

The caravan reward more than makes up for the art cost the battle and in case of losses the hourly enroll will cover the cost. Not to mention good xp:fsp ratio which farmers (like myself) are crazy about :P

Min AP is also excellent for faction training at high levels.

*points at Xeno* one of the most successful min AP thieves~
Seems like all the thieves have vanished from easy bay ... have run 3 times up and down , but got no thief for hunting !

But you triggered caravans for 3 thieves, which they must be thankful for :)

Always look on the bright side of life!
Im thinking of donating 80ˆ to get a TGI.
What I want to accomplish is to gain lvls asap. I started as Elf and I have EFK's there (donated), switched over to DE, faction lvl 1, got shrews.
Im lvl 6...

How's the XP for thieving? Is it quicker? how does all that work?
for arrows:
Depends , if you get a player , it gives you xp like mad . I started thieving as soon as i became level 6 , did Tg2 in 3 days , and reached level 6 in 6 days .

So yes thieving does make you level up like crazy !
