OK nerds, time's up. Seems you spent too much time playing computers and not listening to the great music of the past.
Incidentally, Uncle Modi's chosen band are still even today making their awesome music.
The clues were good. Not enough for you lame GOOGLE junkies to go on hehe.
It takes a fan to know from those clues, but with the clues and being a fan it is OBVIOUS. I don't even need to say ..."is it ______?"
So I shall now reveal the mystery band:
Steely Dan!
I choose the song: Don't take me alive.
Stay thirsty for good music my friends. |

Details for the trivia question clues:
1.There are mainly two players in this band and each time they record, they invite different quality musicians to join them.
The genius of Walter Becker and Donald Fagen brought many musicians to their studio seeking to record with them. Not only were they expert musicians, Fagen was a brilliant lyricist, many times poking his finger at politcal figures through their songs. He also had a haunting voice and their mix of jazz and rock was unique. Becker is one of the best guitarists ever to play an ax for sure!
2. This band did not tour much because their music was hard to duplicate to perfection.
These two masters were so such perfectionists, they felt playing live would not be up to par for their insanely high standards. Fans begged them to tour so they could see them live but they remained mostly a studio band their whole career.
3. Used a sitar in one of their best songs
A sitar is an Indian guitar, made popular in the West after Woodstock when Ravi Shankar wowed the crowd. George Harrison of Beatles fame took to this instrument and made it his trademark. The Dan song where Becker lays down an unreal riff is:
Do It Again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJx-coqJl-U
4. Wrote a song about a unique article of clothing worn by the Turks in the days of the Ottoman Empire
That would be The Fez, a little tasseled hat the Turks wore.

Good choice by DarwenAward....

Announcing a new music trivia contest sponsored by Stuntys Dwarven Moonshine:
Those wascally dwarves found a fern flower while fetching the daily drinking water and have placed it up for grabs as the prize.
This contest will run until all the questions are answered. Some questions are easy and other are very difficult. The person to answer the final question correctly wins the prize, even if it is your only correct answer, so some strategy will be required. A consolation prize of 1 Tigers Claw will be awarded to the person who answers the most questions correctly. If you are this person and also the one answering the final question, you win both prizes.
You may only answer one question at a time and if you are wrong, you can't answer another for 24 hours. If you are correct, you may continue guessing.
You may only answer questions when I am online and open for business. I will notify you that I am here on this thread only.
You may begin when you see the questions appear in my next post. Good luck and....

Music Trivia Contest Questions:
1. This band had a hit song in the 80's and the title for that song is a chord progression. This title is also a famous cheat code for game systems.
2. This band was responsible for changing the way groups were paid on tour. Before they hit the scene, promoters got most of the profits and the bands got chump change. This band demanded 90% of the gate and they were so good, they got it. They changed the music industry.
3. This band allowed bootleggers to legally record their music when on tour and even set up a special section for them at concerts to set up.
4. This musician auditioned and was turned down to be one of the Monkeys and went on to higher success with another band.
5. This band last played together from the rooftop of their studio. They broke up and never appeared together as a group again.
6. This musician(lead singer) did too many drugs and was sent to an insane asylum. The remaining members continued and even wrote a hit song about him.
7. This musician changed his name because he shared it with another, already famous musician. His name appears in a euphemism for "death at sea."
8. This musician was falsely reported to have died choking on a ham sandwich.
9. This band titled an album in answer to the Beatles "Let it Be." Looking for the band and their album title to score here.
10. This musician was kicked out of his band because he was " too good-looking." Perhaps music's worst hard luck story as the band he was removed from became filthy rich.
Good luck and .....
