can someone please give me some advice for this battle- for me, i think that the elf won by pure chance- my ghosts never missed, and the efk went 2 times faster then my vamps, and the elven bowmen had virtually every single shot critical. How should i have played this better?

your enemy still has 46 efk on the field, some druids and unicorns (and even 7 bowmen!) and you talk about a close game? :D :D :D
besides the elf playing poor (i think other talent combo would have been better, he had no sprites, didn't take retal, high risk attacking ghosts with unicorns) here is what i think to "help" you:
1. get some other stat points. When you know your enemy will shoot first you might want to have some more defense than attack
2. don't just rush with your ghosts. If you do (and hope for the enemy missing them) they will die no matter what. Even if the enemy misses one time retal is taken and they are dead for sure
3. Maybe try to get some more faction skill. More skele - more chance
4. I don't agree with your choice of talents. In my opinion you may use vitality or avoidance instead of nature magic (erudition is still fine)
5. don't fight elves in min arts. A clever elf will always win in a min arts battle :):P
forgot some things to add:
6. you should have used slow or even better wasp swarm on his archers in turn 1. This way YOUR archer would have moved before his would on turn 2. Since slow is more powerful than rapid i think it would have worked regardless of what your enemy would have done. Never underestimate wasp swarm/slow!
7. even if you move in with ghosts, make sure to cover them with vamps. Try to keep up with efk ini by waiting with vamps
8. You wasted your liches, you fell for the druid trap. Notice that a bowmen as only a third of druids hp but deals more damage. You were already lucky your opponent was foolish enough not to use stoneskin on his bowmen (so you would kill 45% less!) or efk/unicorns. Your liches killed a total of 2 druids, and only after they casted out all their mana. Attacking bowmen at the first turn (killing maybe 3-5) would have crippled your enemy way more
9. You may have waited as well in first turn with skeleton archer, raise them with your hero and then attack bowmen. This way you may have killed up to double that much archer (don't remember exact numbers of you raising, no time to look it up now but stil it was a lot)
10. Splitting up 1 zombie was pathetic in my opinion. Better use ghosts. Your opponent won't have any mana in late game or waste his mana on single ghosts (that way your liches would survive much longer)

and don't call yourself a tactician in any way, asking in forum for general help. It's really not that level dependant, everyone has the same basic info and can come to the same conclusion. If you had at least seen half the points of my list (which is in fact not even close to being all you could have done better) there would be more reason to believe you had a sense of tactic
this is not meant to be an insult, it is just my humble opinion that one who is too lazy to make up his mind, look for stats, watch other people's battles etc should not be helped, especially when he has a big mouth but nothing else
that's why i understand other people saying they won't help you, i just did only to show you the glance of what there might be and how pathetic some parts really were. I also think that this discussion about not helping leads towards nowhere and should end here
Lol, one of the best necros cannot adapt his strategies and must start from scrath at level 8 :D

thanks guys for the tips i'll rethink it. and hidden, im just new to level 8 creatures, tier 2 upgrades, and a new setup of talents thats all. i did read and watch how others played but didnt really try them yet. familiarity breeds experience, and tactics builds on experience- so thanks for the help again- to those who want to deride others, it doesnt matter to me, but i appreciate the help given and will keep improving- thats the point.

it was close- just that the liz morale and luck at exactly the right time- otherwise i would have won, dont you think?
it was allgoing very well except for a short afk of my partner and then end where the liz was bursting and lucking at the right timings. otherwise, my skels would have shot the liz in range first, and my 10 vamps would have no prob dealing with a weak liz and the rest. - comments suggestions?
one question, if a lvl 6 necro decided to begin doing thief ambushes, what should be the stats and talent choice for the necro to carry out the biggest winning possibility?
#445: Your biggest mistake there was shootingthe minos with the vampires, it gave the lizards free room to hit you. A better move would have been to attack the lizards directly with your vampires. Or just move them up, where it would have been safe and raise the ghosts to act as shield against the lizards.
Try looking at the ATB and thinking what your opponents' next moves could be for each of your moves. Being a TBS, this game has to be thought out just like a chess game - "If I attack the lizards, what will happen? At least 3 will die and then they'll hit me. If I attack the minos, what will happen? Next ones to move are the lizards and they will come with Lizard Charge and kill at least 5 vamps in 1 shot. If I move the vampires up, what will happen? The lizards will be forced to wait and then I can raise my ghosts to block them even more from reaching me."
Not to mention that by moving your vampires away from the skeletons, you'd have given them a lot of problems, by having to split up their troops (you had 2 big stacks left, they only had 1 big one and a few small ones). Their lizards would have been hard pressed to choose between the vampires and skeletons and whichever would have been left alone (most likely the skeletons, since they were unreachable) could have killed the small stacks and then come out in full force against the weakened lizards.
Oh, yeah, forgot one thing: The lizards did get a morale burst at the exact time it was needed, so it was a little lucky there, but the mistake there was to try to hole up in your corner and have the bowmen shoot. Yes, he did get lucky and that's what probably won the fight, but you should consider for the next times not rushing forward with the ghosts, since, as Van_GM pointed out before, they will die. And your ghosts deal more damage then your vampires can, so you should take better care of them.

#446: For thieving as necro, I haven't done it yet, but I imagine the standard raise build should work (all points in Attack, except 4-5 in Knowledge for raising - for talents I would use Basic Erudition with Spirit Link and using the extra point in Att/Know and the spirit link on your skeletal bowmen or vampires, depending if they have shooters or not, to get a few more mana points for maybe 1 more Raise Dead).

Well first of all I think the move with the vampires was a good one, as the lizz couldn't reach you and with only 1 moral this was simply bad luck. on the other hand there have been some bad moves before this.

1) better split 1 more single ghost instead of 1 zombie
2) placing ghosts before liches was a bad move 1 single ghost would have been enough ghost would have waited. If single ghost is killed, then zombie could have moved 1 step forward. If thats not possible I think its better to let lizz kill liches and then attack with bows, vamps and 24 ghosts.
3) to shoot the 13 shrews who just have been stoneskined was a minor mistake from my point of view, better shoot 14 without stone skin
4) was swarm on 8 shews was wasted, the same goes for the wasp swarm against efk - this could have been 1 more raise instead
5) as pointed out by others attacking hydra with ghosts was a very bad move and even more so as u didn't took retal before. Since lizz moved backwards ghosts could have retreated out of hydra range and all would have been fine. With enough small stacks to take retal from ghosts and lizz and hydra for attacking it was clear that they would die. You've been lucky that you got missed by hydra retal.

Guess you will do better next time.

becuz i think mana is better then atk with mana in thet lvls

at level 7+ Attack is more required... because u cant hit anything if u have 7 knowledge and 0 attack

At higher levels, you cannot count on your hero contributing significantly to enemy kills like you can at lower levels. You need to boost the damage dealing of your troops, and the best way to accomplish this is by adding to your hero's attack skill. The few points of difference between a regular attack by your hero and a magic punch are utterly meaningless at higher levels.

Besides, there are frequently things you should be doing with your hero besides direct attacks... like Wasp Swarm, Disruption Ray, Summon Phantom, Raising, etc.

i am level 5 and i cant defeat a level 5 elf!

my recuitment is 19 skele 20 zombie 15 ghosts 7 vam

the elf have mainly bowmen and druids which make them powerful against necromancer with shooters!

so any tips?

I have a question- for necros at level 8-9, what are the easiest factions to duel at min ap? Are necros at that level better at min ap or full ap battles?
